Re: Shortline Train Location Updates - April 2021
I think one of them is the GP9 with torpedo tanks on top
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

I'm aware of the 5903, but none of the other units are in the 5900s, unless something has changed very recently.

No way they will ever take that back unless business improves substantially.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 7:08 amMaybe when the lease expires they’ll take it back and run it out of Jackson?AARR wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:27 pmThank you for the information LRF. I understand why JAIL likes this but am surprised that NS was interested in such a short haul.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 6:13 pm
Yes. The NS coil cars are a static set of coils that go back and forth between Gerdau in Jackson and RSDC in Holt. There’s obv more than 30 but they just had a large train this morning.
Usually once a week they will get 1-2 from CSX but it must be speciality steel product and it comes from Indiana somewhere.
I always wondered why I never would see long cuts of coils come in on any NS trains and now I know.
The NS Jackson local (currently hiring a conductor, btw) works Gerdau.
It’s about 60 cars a week with very minimal effort from what I understand.
The effort lies with the 2 ADBF GP-9s hauling 30 loaded coil cars up from Jackson to Holt!
The GP9’s lugging hard must be quite a sight.

Sorry. Thought that was what I read. Different numbers on the engines. I’ve just been looking at them and learning a bit because I have to go down that way next week for work.

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates - April 2021
Vaguebook update says GDLK was north around Wayland at 7:55pm. They didn't run north through Byron Center yesterday, and this is a late arrival for them into town. Should be by shortly.
North through Byron Center at 9:41pm with what looked like WAMX 4209, 2 other locos, and 66 cars.
Wifey tells me I tapped her on the shoulder sometime in the middle of the night, and went straight back to sleep. Train went through southbound right after that. I recall none of this.

Grand elk north through Byron Center at 5:57pm. WAMX 4209, WAMX 4225 and I think 23 cars.
Went back south sometime in the 11pm-1am range I think.

Grand Elk north through Byron Center at 3:05pm. WAMX 4209(i think), WAMX 4189 and about 15 cars.
Back south through Byron Center at 4:55pm, 4189 leading about 10 covered hoppers, probably going to Moline.

Must have gone back south because there were no cars on the Otsego branch.
Trails to Rails. Put the track back.
