I’m in Howell grabbing gas at Latson Rd. Did they leave yet
Have not left Brighton yet, they attached to 388, pulled back into the main, grabbed their cars, and now appear to be stopping at WE Brighton to pick up the cars in the siding. Beginning to back into the siding now. If the head end passes Bauer Rd, I'll be heading to WE Howell (I'm blocked in atm), hopefully they'll meet 706 there.

I’m at Lucy Road. Red for EB here.

Yellow over red at Michigan Ave

Edit. Sounds like d906 went thru Williamston about 20 minutes ago.

WB or EB? Usually the EB signal protecting Ann Pere diamond is red until a train enters the block, then turns green. I.e only turns green when a train is five or so minutes away, from my observation. I should mention the EB signal at WE Brighton is Red.

"got just over 15 minutes" seems like they'll run out of time before they can leave... ...fine by me, more train to watch

If it were up to me, I would just run a dedicated Grand Rapids-Ann Pere turn 2 or 3 times a week, with nothing but GLC traffic on it. Bob’s thinking is correct that GLC traffic does come both from the west and the east, and GR does build a GLC block for D706 in addition to a Lansing block. I’m not sure if Rougemere also builds a GLC block, or if they just mix them in with all of the Lansing cars.

Most likely signal system is set up like we had on the C&O Ludington Sub for the diamonds at Clare and Reed City. We could code in our signal east or west, but until our train was on the approach (a couple miles away) the signal did not actually line in the field. In the meantime, the "foreign line" could get a signal. North and South Kearsley were the same way. Although coded in for our movement, southbound signal did not come in until our train around Carpenter Road at McGrew, and northbound around Atwood. If a southbound had work at McGrew, we didn't code in Kearsley until we knew they were departing McGrew, thus not to tie up the CN (GTW).

hi c&o ds
on the east side ( wyoming to p co junction, approx 2 to 3 miles west of rougemere )
trowbridge and ann pere were both the same operation. if nothing was in the app's, gtw at trowbridge,
and ann arbor at ann pere. you would code the signal, the signal would show green for less then a min
and then go dark, when the train would enter the app circuit, the signal would recode green as long as
the other rr had not entered the app first. there wasn't a seperate signal lever to line either the gtw or aa,
their routes lined automaticly within the ctc system, but at the gtw diamond at south lyon the interlocking
had a controlled signal for the c&o and the gtw had a controlled signal. both controlled by the east end ds.
signal lever 101 l/r controlled movement on the c&o and 103 l/r controlled movement on the gtw

Yes, exactly -- the same set-up on Saginaw side. At Hoyt and Wixom, we actually controlled the signals in all directions. After Romulus tower was closed, that was also an approach line-up for our trains. At Holly, we coded north or south, but rather than an "approach" operation, the GTW dispatcher had to line up as well, so they had ultimate control of the diamond. Thanks for your response!
