D708 4054/5222 was at old PM station/Clara’s waiting for signal at 1:40.

SD-40-3 4054 was added last night to replace 4316 which had an emotional breakdown in November.

Consist was only 6 or 7 cars.

Ensel looks cleaned up too.

D706-02 @ 2:20pm eastward reported from Seymour mp CH148.1 with CSX engine #3211 leading & probably also has CSX engine #738 (don't know if the 2nd engine is operating as a DPU).

amessmann writes: GLC must be done at Howell, I can easily hear Notch-8 645's off in the distance, along with the classic horn - they're down at Chilson, I'm at Brighton Lake Rd, sounds amazing.

BL2-1843 Replies: As of 10:00 Thursday morning, the 41 cars sat off for GLC yesterday were still sitting on the main line west of Lucy Road. That is, unless GLC themselves left set off cars on the CSX main line too, which would be a first if they did. With today's D708 only having a short train I will soon know. If they turn at Fowlerville its because there is no need to come to Howell.

D706-02 @ 3:20pm eastward reported by the DD mp CH126.3 with 576 axles. The above power & 141 cars. This detector was recently changed (either equipment or firmware) where it now: has a different voice than before, reports the outdoor ambient temperature, does not perform the advance "greeting", & does not provide the length of the train.

D708 departed Fowlerville at 15:50 and heading to South Lyon today, but does not necessarily mean he will go all the way there to run around its train, but at least as far Silver Lake Road and Portec, At least will go beyond Brighton He picked up 22 cars at Ogihara and his currently going by Howell thru the siding at 16:30. Nice to see two units back on D708 again.

There is a green in south Lyon for D708 near The east end of the siding. Does that mean he is going to do the switch maneuver or he just has clear track to go that far if need be?

708 wouldn't even need a green light if they came power lite to Portec and returned back west. With 22 pick up cars at Ogihara, am surmising he will bring his entire train there to run around it. Can not remember for sure if Portec is an eastbound or westbound switch when he has cars in his train with him. Just cleared Ann Pere at 16:38. Thanks for the heads up yesterday on D705s train Micah.

There wouldn't be a clear signal if he was going into a siding, there would be some other signal displayed. A clear signal means to proceed at maximum authorized speed. What signal are you seeing? A Green (top), Red, Red would be a clear or a Green over a Red.

We’ve got a green on top of of a red. Therefore they will pull their train onto the main.

Wouldn't he get a clear if he was pulling cars onto the main then running around on the siding? Also clear signal at WE Brighton, I hear 708 on the radio and the horn in the distance - will update when it comes thru.

Thru Brighton at 16:52, probably 20 cars.

Yes, he would have a Clear signal if he wants to go past South Lyon & then get a different signal to back track & go into the siding - same if he were planning to leave cars out on the main, then go past South Lyon with his engines & then a new signal to back track into the siding. Or, the Dispatcher could reverse the switch & give him permission by the Stop signal to go into the siding.

D708 is sitting in between silver lake rd and 11 mile. He still has a green signal for the main.

Edit: he pulled up past 12 mile and is going to run around is train.

Presume those are still the C&O (rather than Seaboard) indications on that part of the Plymouth Sub. After clearing the switch at the east end, dispatcher will reverse switch and line signal into siding. Should get a MEDIUM APPROACH (R/Y/Y) into siding. If already lined out of siding at the west end (SLOW CLEAR), would get a MEDIUM-APPROACH SLOW into the siding (R/Y/G). At least that's how it worked when I was dispatching!

Holy cow, who knew running around a train could be so complicated!
