GLC Northbound currently departing Howell at 20:34 after being over on CSX for the last two hours setting off 42 cars and picking up 52 cars including 30 Ash loads. VERY distinguishable horn on the SD35 383, former MRL. Sounds like an older NS unit from years ago, Hope they hang on to it and the other two have it as well. Plenty enough fans taking pictures while over on CSX at Dearborn Street and got five myself, without them in it.

Supposed to be taking OSTN back to Owosso, then another crew (I would assume) will be taking a grain train south with the power.

They go to HESR in Durand. I think they are taking it to a landfill in Essexville?

Thank you.

I was wondering if it's flyash for the Lafarge cement plant in Alpena?

It's bottom ash from the former Cobb power plant in Muskegon. They go Michigan Shore to CSX to GLC to HESR. HESR takes them to Essexville.

GLC Grain load went south through Howell at 05:50. They cut off the 392 from yesterdays northbound from Howell that had their "new" 383 leading. brought back 382+383 and added 395+398 on the head end to lead it. Locomotives went back north power light at 09:40 with 383 lading again. Love that horn. Getting a side look at 383 from 50 feet away reminded me how short those SD35s are from the days I used to see the Chessie/Torco units working the coal-ore dock in Toledo. Really noticeable on length compared to 382 next to it.

Current power in Cadillac this afternoon: 395, 398 and 390. They should be running to Clare this evening.

382 & a GP38-2 are suspected to be on ONTN tonight. Per FB they were seen switching cars near the shops.

37 cars.. not bad. What’s with all the CSX MOW gons? I assume these get interchanged at Ann Pere but what is the service they are in running back and forth since D708 always seems to have them too...
