Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
No idea about D706 until something is heard on the scanner. So far today, I haven't heard him & usually you'll hear quite a bit of info on the scanner when they're prepping their train in Grand Rapids for departure. You can hear the radio calls on the free Broadcastify on-line scanner for CSX West Michigan at this link:
https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/22783
Once there, click the black arrowhead seen under "Listen"
A pop up window will appear next & then click "Play Live" to start the scanner.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
Usually the range of the scanner is not much beyond the DD site at mp CH104.3 during the day and most times he goes into Ensel mp CH90 for work there - well beyond the scanner's range. Sometimes, might get lucky & hear the Dispatcher calling him & those calls are sometimes heard.

Continue to watch this thread. Someone will likely post when D706 goes on duty in Grand Rapids today, whenever that may be.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
It's on duty in GR. Once it leaves, which someone will most likely report but you can also find out via the scanner that Tom##### told you about, it will take 6-90 min to go to Lansing. It will work Ensel yard there, prolly an hour, then leave. It will have to get clearance to cross CN at Trowbridge so that can take time. From there it will have to go around d708 in howell and/or GLC as well.
5-7 is a decent time period but I would tend towards 7. again, reference all of the scanner information people provided you in previous posts to help you figure out where it is. if anyone sees the train or has a heads up, they will provide if they can.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
As of 13:55 D706 was still putting their 150+ car train together, strewn all over the yard it sounds like. Will be over 200 cars after working Lansing.

I’m guessing still no reports on D706? I have been listening to the radio feed but haven’t heard anything.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
D706-25 with CSX engine #3108 leading reported from Madison - I think that's still inside Grand Rapids. Time Table isn't showing that name but he hasn't reported from the other typical locations shown in the Time Table when departing Grand Rapids.
At 3:52pm he reported east on #1 Track, Seymour mp CH148.1

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
Madison is an intermediate signal in the double track between Pleasant St and Seymour.
D706 East at Fox with CSX 3108 leading, 3070 as the mid train DPU and a massive train.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
Howell is mp CH54.2 the scanner (my only source for tracking trains on the Plymouth sub-division) usually doesn't hear much at all once he's reported by the DD at mp CG104.3 (50 miles away from Howell). Might have some better scanner range later into the evening, but the furthest evening call I've heard once was from mp CH95.

I’m gonna head out to the train tracks in south Lyon around 6. Anyone have a scanner that can pick up around here? Could you tell me where D706 is at?
