I should know I suppose, but since I sleep at night, I don't get a chance to see our night trains and don't know if they are still running or not. I used to hear all the horns when we first moved to Linden, but only hear a few now and again as we are not hearing trains at night anymore unless a particular horn is very loud - about 1/4 mile away but staring to not hear trains anymore - I guess we are just used to them now.

Anyway, I never got a chance to see a Coke Train BTW.

Thanks.

David Lang

I have not seen any coke trains in a bit now although I couldnt tell you the last one eexactly. I havent heard trains at night after about the 3rd day living here. Even in the summer with the windows open. Which is good since I get to sleep soundly all night but still kinda disappointing since that's why I bought this place lol

Local Train 515 out of Pontiac had 5435 and 5852 today and a very long train as it went SB past MP 22.5 at 10:10 am.

As to the Coke Trains, the last one I saw was an empty a few weeks ago and I think I posted its passing here that day. It had two NS locomotives if I recall. They seemed to run this train at night so they might be still running it and we just don't see them. If a night train wakes me I usually don't get up to look at it. Getting old.

Thanks Manistique and Jason. To both of your points, its amazing what people can learn to sleep through. I used to hear each train every night too, but don't too much anymore. I work full time, so when I do hear trains at night, getting up then trying to go back to sleep would mess with my work day, plus living about a 1/4 mile away, I have a hard time seeing what is going by, even with binoculars because its too dark.

If the Coke trains are still running, I would like to see one. Maybe I will get lucky some morning as I am usually up at 4 or 4:30 to go to work and I cross the tracks twice, once in Linden and again in Fenton. I love living near the tracks again - did so from 2007 to 2011 in Macomb with the CN Mt. Clemens Sub just behind my backyard, but don't know how long we will live in Linden as the drive to work (Sterling Heights) is one hour each way. Two hours in the car every day is long, but we like the Linden/Fenton area so who knows.

Happy New Year to Everyone.

Train 515 was NB with a record 84 cars at 6:10 pm past MP 22.5 with 5852 leading 5435 and the geep really barking up the Hill doing about 50 mph (must have been mostly empties).

Well, I missed both 514s today, but caught 251 Northbound at Linden Road around 8:15pm with 4 CN units and 101 cars. Autoracks, General Freight, then more autoracks.

Two SB's out of Pontiac this evening. One looked like a 280 autorack. The other was mixed freight.

Over and out from MP 22.5 for 2019.
