Went by the GRE Ann Street yard yesterday around noon and it was empty. Went by again around 4:00pm and it had the 17 hoppers report previously, plus more, also two empty center beams and two likely empty tanks. Lowell has only a few hoppers around King today.

Southbound facing Z151 was tied down in Sparta on the north end of town beside the baseball field. All 4 SD40-2s were on the head end with MQT 3389 leading, back on home rails. Looked to have a medium size train. 4 covered hoppers at Packaging Personified.

Meanwhile MQT 2041 was parked beside the depot in Baldwin with 2 cars, and additional strings of cars west of the coal tower. This is not the first time I've seen a MQT geep kept at Baldwin. Do they base a crew there now?

A couple of weeks ago. It’s been relettered for MQT and should be out and about soon I would guess.

Barely GRE related, but posting anyway. Between Lowell and Saranac, saw a few large semis, a steam roller, and a grader working on the ROW between those cities. They are working on getting the bicycle path completed. Worker mentioned to me that they are working Lowell to Greenville as well and should be done in not too long.

My aunt and uncle have property that backs right up to the ROW just outside of Lowell. Will be interesting to see it when it’s done.

3 1/2 inches of crushed asphalt surfacing over the RR ballast. It packs really good. First time its been used in the state.

Does anyone know how far west they are making the bike trail? The Malta Jct searchlight mast (knocked over) and signal house are still down the ROW.

The rails are in but not used (obviously) from Montcalm Avenue to the west. So I would guess at this point Montcalm Avenue is the western terminus.

Also heard they are already done from Vergennes St north to Greenville. Save a few mushy spots that you can push through but perhaps not ride through.

The "easy" stretches are done, the "mushy" spots are getting a foot of 1x3 stone to raise them up, geotextile fabric and then the surfacing. A box culvert is going in behind the Arrowhead Golf Course. The road intersections are not done yet so use care at the crossings if you try it out. The road crossings will get the usual ADA plates. I think you guys will be impressed with the crushed asphalt. I know the trail maintenance person who bikes year around is just thrilled with it. He's also dealing with trying to fix the Ionia to Owosso "limestone". (Really dolomite ie magnesium carbonate.)

Living in a house less than a mile from Fuller Jct, I’ve come to memorize the horns that go thru there. Just heard a K5L horn and Z151 was at Fuller at 21:34. Couldn’t get to my scanner in time for them giving their EC-1, but could 3391 be leading Z151 tonight? If it is correct, I believe this is the first time 3391 lead Z151 after coming back from HESR.
