Normally yes, they would not be able to off at the same time. But, it all depends on where they were working when vacations were awarded. If the regular D708 conductor was in Lansing at the time, and the extraboard conductor was working in say, West Olive when vacations were decided, both of them being off the last week of July would have no impact on each other. But if the extraboard guy got bumped out of West Olive and is now working in Lansing, obviously that becomes an issue. But the company can't just say "Hey, I don't care if this is the only terminal or job you can hold, you can't be on vacation now". Just the nature of the beast.

It's not a vacation thing we are running out of people in west michigan. We have poeple out on health issues and many people retiring and they having hire anyone. The engineer jobs are must fill so the conductor get the short end of the stick. They had one hiring session and one thats on going. If you want to see how much fun it is, apply.

Rob, I don't miss the insanity one bit. Show them the future retirees coming up, show them the vacations coming up and they cut the boards. Right now there is no one to fill the boards anyway....but hey, HIRE SOME BODIES....but noooooooooo...

Y106 was having some PTC issues with their SD40-3 on the point of their train this morning. Jacksonville dispatcher said if they don't get it resolved by tomorrow, they are not allowed to depart Wyoming.
