L533 and M382 met in Mt. Clemens.
L533 with GT 4918 was working for about an hour before the meet. Somewhat of a long train today, including an autorack in the mix.
M382 was stopped near Fraser while 533 worked. Finally came speeding through Mt. Clemens at 19:55. CN 2936 & 3166 with 166 cars.
533 continued on south shortly afterwards.

The northbound was stopped at Metro Parkway.

CN 3166 and 2936 were on Saturday's 383. I saw that train in Wyandotte just before sunset.

I was guessing Fraser since it was going about 40-45 mph by the time it got to Cass Ave. I'm impressed how such a long train got up to speed so quickly!

Questions for the resident CN experts:

Train 514...is it an A or an L train?

What manifests are commonly seen in Durand mid/late afternoon. Trying to match symbols up with trains I saw a couple weeks ago, so I'd appreciate it if stuff can be narrowed down. Thanks in advance guys! :)

L514.

In the mid-late afternoon you pretty consistently see M371 going up from the Holly Sub to the Flint Sub WB, as well as L502. You'll know L502 when you see it, it works Durand and basically cuts off the whole town for an hour or so. Any other manifests that run during that time varies.

Thanks.

Yes, one of those extra intemodal trains that appear from time to time and can have a variety of different symbols.

It's possible you could have seen an M396 or M398 eastbound during that time. M396 has CAT equipment on it from time to time, but otherwise I can't tell the two apart. M397 is typically a long manifest that can go westbound in the afternoon (but sometimes in the morning). Complicating things is the fact that there have been some detour trains on the Flint Sub with freight that normally travels through Wisconsin. If you see a WB or EB with a lot of potash hoppers, the EB is probably M323 and the WB probably M322. There is also an EB M327 that often has a bunch of empty centerbeams. Not sure if a counterpart for M327 has been running west, though. The even/odd number convention is reversed on the Flint Sub for these trains because they are running between the Chicago area and points in Canada that are further west, even through they are going via Toronto!

What appears to be an E260 type train is going through Durand at 1713 with a solo BNSF Gevo. At the same time, L502 is backing into Durand yard with a BNSF Cream and Green SD70MAC and BNSF Gevo. You’d think this is BNSF territory!
