I believe that he's musing that I'd be great if the crew overnighting in Detroit was a precursor to Q327 and Q326 being extended to Detroit, as has been the historical norm.

Historically, running via Grand Rapids were 326/327, 334/335, and 336/337.

326/327 were Chicago-Detroit, 334/335 were Chicago-Toledo, and 336/337 were Chicago-Flint.

The first pair to go was 336/337, at least a decade ago. 326/327 were cut during the Great Recession, leaving 334/335 as the only manifests in Grand Rapids. In 2011, 334/335 were split into two turns, with 334/335 being Grand Rapids to Toledo, and 326/327 being revived in name for the Chicago-Grand Rapids service.

It is rumored that they're looking at extending 326/327 back to Detroit, thus the musing.

As a side note, as I understand it, these 6 trains also made pickups and setouts at Benton Harbor, Holland and Lansing, with 336/337 handling Benton Harbor, 334/335 handling Holland, and 326/327 handling Lansing. Today, the Benton Harbor Yard no longer exists, Waverly gets their traffic via D700 (and recently 327 again), and Lansing gets theirs via D707.

Though I'm sure one of the "old heads" will be able to clarify/correct the above if I've gone askew in my histories.

336/337 worked Wixom, mainly autoracks and boxcars for Ford Wixom Assembly. Once those trains were canned, all the traffic came up on Q231 and Q287 (moved to Rougemere when Ford Wixom closed). All non-auto traffic/ MAL traffic was handled by D739, now what's barely left is handled by D737.

Thanks for the heads up, Racer. By Howell at 15:25 with CSX 3454 leading, 4825,2675 trailing with 151 cars. Far as I know, there was no 334 last night out of GRP.

P370-25 east has 20 axles, 364 feet at 91.9 DD at 21:13. Sounds like AMTK 56 leading.

They pulled two strings out of the even side. 90+ in the first track the rest from the second.

0840 hrs - CSX Wyoming Yard west local D700 was parked on the mainline at Buzzi in Grandville with a short 9 car train - 7 shorty covered hoppers, a BNSF boxcar, and 1 tank. CSXT 6536 was the power. Not sure if they were about to switch Buzzi or just finished.
