Monday, D708 made it only to Webberville grain and tied up there. Crew arrived by 10:30 to go further east. Dispatcher asked them if they were going all the way to Plymouth today, but did not hear the answer. Either the new local runs have started, or about to. No 334 in several days, only one 335 since Friday, so another sign.

So how long now until CSX try's to kill the CTC. Bet after they kill the CTC and they realize the land barges on the west end don't like Sagutuk they put 334/335 back on.

That must be D70823 I saw at Fowlerville working the plant just east of town. I could see engines from the freeway but not the numbers.

D70823, departed Fowlerville at 15:50, by Howell at 16:10, direct to Plymouth east yard. Should be there before 18:00. Running slow speed by crossings due to lead unit with no rear ditch lights running backwards. CSX 4748. GRP will be sending two back to back units to Lansing for assigned use on our new one train only per day to run on the Plymouth Sub at Howell. (until our next grain train shows up)

It just came by us here in Genoa Township headed east. Wasn't moving very fast.

A southbound Grain train was going through Grand Blanc at about 5:00pm, IIRC. It had two CSX engines leading, the leading being 8364. IIRC, it had 55 cars.

On a side note, I can tell there have been a lot of grain trains on the Saginaw Sub lately. While waiting for the southbound, I noticed there are a lot of soybean seeds on the main track on the crossing, and there were a few corn kernels on the siding.

Amtrak P370-23 with AMTK 130 leading east has a clear indication at Vine at 21:08 EST. 16 axles, 305 feet at 91.9 DD. Must be no NPCU since they will be working car #3 in St. Joseph tonight.

What does "working car #3" mean?

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

This is what car the crew is using to unload/load passengers at that station. The conductors in the train usually tell the head end this around Hilltop for St. Joe, just so they stop in a good place.

Based on what I've seen, they like to work Car #3 at SJM so that they can work #1 and #2 at Holland without passing the signal there. But there's a limited sample on my part, so TIFWIW.

D708 cleared Plymouth diamond at 5:40PM with a pretty big train for a local. 708 had to contact Rouge Tower to get into East Yard which lead to all of the crossings in Old Village being blocked for awhile (enough to screw-up traffic during rush hour here in town). When 708 finally got into East Yard, the yard was packed and I mean PACKED! I haven't seen the yard this full since the late 1990s when times were better. I could see freight cars overflowing east of the yard as a result of it. The 4748 was tied down in the west-end of East Yard for tomorrow's trip west. D716 later came back to Plymouth and per scanner conversations it sounded like they had problems putting their cars into East Yard since THERE IS NO SPACE! Q392 died south of town and needed a recrew after setting off D708's cars in East Yard which appeared to have taken a long time. So sad to see the Plymouth Sub demise to this state. Go back 5 years ago and you'd see triple the trains including intermodal, automotive, and other hot traffic.
