1758 and about 35 cars northbound through Mason 7:00 am on the 23rd

1760 has been sitting on the siding at North st in Mason most of the week, and now there are some heavy duty cranes next to it. Possibly down for repairs?

Saturdaty 01/29/2011 at 7:40am - # 1443, # 1758, & # 1760 are sitting at the siding at North St in Mason. # 1419 just arrived in Mason from the South. This would make a great photo opp.

I saw all 4 engines in Mason about 8:00am and then again about 8:00 pm, but I think they turned the 1419. It is definitely facing South now, and I swear it was facing North in the morning. Can't think of anywhere but the wye in Jackson to do that?

This may be a dumb question, but I don't know the reason why. Why do railroads "turn" their loco's around every now and then? About a year ago, ADBF turned all four of their GP9's around at Lenawee Junction.

Believe it or not, the same reason you rotate the tires on your car is one reason. Also visibilty when switching is another.

I believe this gives them 2 engines facing in each direction.

1419 and one covered hopper went past MA southbound about 20:00 on 1/31

If anyone happens to have a JAIL update for today (Thursday) regarding their operation to/in/from Lansing, that would be swell. I'll be getting out of work early today and wouldn't mind seeing them if possible. Thanks!

Yes- they have been wying the power at Jackson with some regularity; in fact, they've come in light, wyed, and returned north light at least once.
