"Assuming" 3 Superliners is about the same length as a Venture Coach. 4 varied cars with the engine(s) would be around 300-450ft long.

Amtrak P371-14 had IDTX engine #4602 & 4 cars (Venture Business + Venture Coach + NE Regional AmCafe + Horizon coach).

When the DD sites were providing the train length info, it was actually the distance from the 1st axle to the last axle since it's wheels the Hot Bearing Detector's magnetic transducers sense. We would also see differences for the reported length for the same train passing over different DD sites which can be attributed to how accurately the magnetic transducers are spaced on the rail.
