I feel it worth mentioning that the signal work was briefly discussed when L302 and L303 met in South Lyon.
Nothing to coherent but something along the lines of "how is the re-signalling going".
This certainly doesn't seem like a rumor anymore.

At roughly 01:00 8/15/23 C80013 with leader BNSF 8575 (2nd set of loads called from Chicago for the day) parked at Grand Junction and tied down. Near the control point at Gray (just outside of Benton Harbor) they reported they were having wheel slip issues due to heavy rain and didn’t think the lead unit would make the hill at Saugatuck in rain even with pusher power. Engineer said the lead locomotive was only loading about 50% of normal and they were barely able to make the small hill pulling out of Benton Harbor at roughly 7 MPH. The R598 on duty may try to get it to the plant at West Olive, but it’s unlikely that the dispatcher will allow them to make the attempt in poor weather and risk delaying Amtrak’s morning run.

C800-13 @ 00:28:29 eastward was at Bangor’s W. Monroe St crossing mp CG60.72 live cam with BNSF engine #8575 & 130 loaded coal cars & rear dpu BNSF engine #8073.

R598-14 @ 00:52 copied his EC1 to depart West Olive, Mi power plant with an empty coal train & took it to Wells Siding mp CG41.3 & tied down with BNSF engine #8534 & 130(?) empty coal cars & rear BNSF engine #8787. He also add CSX engines #3243 + #759 to take to Grand Jct mp CG54 to pick up C800-13 but they had found the CSX #759 had brake shoes that were burnt off & deemed it unsafe to move & won't be moving the C800-13.

Could be Y197, doubt it’s L301 since their duty time is usually at 9am

Probably L301(?), Tom’s report on L301 briefing above confirms.
