There’s some interesting stuff in M327’s big consist today, a BNSF hopper with classic Frisco logo, a BN cascade green, a few former Soo Line hoppers, and a couple of those brand new CSXT black gons with the big white logo. Oh, and that pair of fading YN2 locomotives, too!

That BNSF hopper with the Frisco logo is one of their “heritage hoppers”.

The optimist in me enjoys seeing these heritage cars. The pessimist in me counters with the notion that they don’t really care about heritage; it’s all about using the predecessor names and logos in commerce so they don’t lose the trademark.
