M383 through Common Rd. @ 14:27. CN 3305, 3300, & mid-DPU 2894 with 138 cars.

M385 through Common Rd. @ 14:52. CN 8826 & 2294 with 110 cars.

Not sure what was going on, but poor planning I believe on someone’s part. Both 383 and 385 held short of Beck. 385 held until 383 cleared its block at Nolan. Nearly a 2-mile train blocking major roadways in mid-afternoon doesn’t sound smart to me.

Very long train lots of box cars and random other things. Racks at the end. I wonder how long and how many cars. Should be 2 trains

This is the second time I've heard of a 253 symbol in recent weeks. Since there was a 253 last night, its likely 253 was the overflow of 251. They used to run an X-251 once and a while, but haven't seen that symbol lately. Whether yesterdays 253 was the overflow of yesterdays or todays 251, I'm not sure. It will be interesting to see how often CN runs a 253, whether it be once in an while as was the case of X-251, or more frequent, time will tell.

Yeah, Lansing Railfan mentioned this new train a few weeks ago but I cannot recall all the details. If I recall it is like an extra 251 but not an extra or maybe like an extra 491. Sometimes I think that they play this nomenclature games for union and pay rules, or to avoid them, sort of playing a game, but who knows. It certainly has not been a regular train. This is only the second or third I remember hearing about. Look in the CN June posts for an explanation about it.

Clear East Lansing at 19:14. Tried a video recording from a distance but even then it was hard to make out the numbers. Looked like #2939 + #2894(?) + #5794
