CSX GRE MQT Train Location Update 5-28-08

Unread post by Raildudes dad »

2 MOW trucks at the GRE. Only 1 inbound NS. Lots of junk ties piled up and lots of bundles of new ties wainting to be installed in the yard.

On the way in, heard that Q32628 was indeed stuck on the hill around Saugatuck. Lite power sounds to have came down from West Olive, and was to pull Q326 into the siding at E. Saugatuck. Amtrak was waiting on the main at Saugatuck as of 8:50am when I got to work.
Y320 was going west by Fox around 8:40am.

Y102 is bringing 37 cars into Ensel (passed Okemos Station CH 81.2 at 9:55 am). 2311 feet, 136 axles reported.

Then, if I understood what I heard correctly, they're going to turn around and go back east to bring in D709 and its 91 cars from the Williamston siding. The dispatcher was heard fretting about having "to figure out where we can put 91 cars."

There was also some talk about the MSU power plant, though I wasn't clear on whether those cars are on Y102 or D709.

Very likely you are correct Tim...upon shaking the 8-ball somemore, I see X500 never cleared Lamar, but it was magically at GR..Mr hall didn't see them at the yard, so that's gotta be them.

The Y102 this morning on the DD at Okemos at 9:55am with 136 axels should have been D709's train who was supposidly died at Williamston, but may have been Fowlerville. He was westbound out of Howell at 538am with 33 cars, which would equal 136 axels including the one unit GP38-2 2517 for power. In the train were 15 GLC AnnPere pick up cars, 7 from Ogihara, including 5 auto parts and two scrap loads, plus two International Paper loads they did not have time to set off on top of the eight already on the spur. It was no loss, as even though the crew never knew it, the flag was down at IP, meaning no switch anyway.

Don't have a clue what and who the 91 cars at Williamston was that Y102 was supposed to go back and pick up but it wasn't D709. Sounds like it will be a non productive day switching Ensel at that rate as Y102 would have to taxi to get 709's train. D709 has an all new crew this week. While some are on vacation, others may have bumped onto another job. Ogihara has been shipping out auto parts cars again. Saw another 20-25 89 footers go west on Q327 last week.

Heard what sounded like K905?-28 leaving the Wyoming diesel house headed east around 3:30pm. Maybe they are heading towards the 91 cars at Willamston.

There was nothing on the siding at Williamston as of 4:30 pm. The signals were green for an eastbound, but nothing showed by 5:15 when I had to leave.

All I saw on CSX track today was a whitetail deer.

There was light power that went east past Seymour at about quarter to 5, consisting of CSX 292, CSX 8229? and CSX 7814. 292 came in on 335, and the SD40-2 and 7814 came in on 326. The 7814 apparently had a major crap-out and needs to be sent to Cumberland to be worked on.

Speaking of the customer at Vinton: There was a public hearing at Alpine Twp last night for extending Rusche and a new road crossing. I heard there are/were 35 inbounds for West Michigan Rail Storage. I strongly suggested they pay a little demurrage and not get switched the night before the hearing. Oh no, couldn't do that so guess what? Sophie and parents show up to female dog (gotta love the clean filter) about all the loud banging in the night. The motion to preceed with the project didn't get second (there were other issues but Sopie and her parents didn't show up before). There's 50 more acres for industrial development if the road goes in.
