Any updates on 705? They must be getting underway soon.

D708-16 with only 12 cars in his train today is approaching Brighton eastward at 14:00. Evidently going to South Lyon today.

Just curious, but could there be a reason as to why that detector is not counting axles right? I want to take a guess but you obviously more than me but is there maybe some debris blocking the sensor that counts the axles…?

There are a pair of magnetic transducers that are inside the gage clamped to the rail (sometimes the rail is drilled thru & nuts and bolts are used instead) to hold the transducers near one of the infra-red sensors (scanners) and they are responsible for counting the axles & also tells the scanners when to start & end the infra-red samples that are taken for each wheel bearing. The wheel flanges are sensed by the transducers when their metal enters the transducer's magnetic field. There is no actual physical contact made between the flanges & the transducers.

The spacing & height of the transducers are critical for accurate axle counts. It could be one of the these transducers (called the "A" and "B" transducers) is a bit lower than what it should be, or, has become magnetically weaker. The transducers aren't affected by dirt or snow. Another possibility is there could be an issue with the micro-processor circuit board.

There's also a Transducer Interface circuit board that connects to the microprocessor circuit board & that could be an issue. It has lightning arrestors placed across each of the transducer's wiring to the board.

D708, who's getting lined out of Howell, has L&I 3001 third from front, must've been picked up at Peaker. 16:49.

This offers zero insight as to where this could be.

Harrison Rd. is effectively the west end of Trowbridge siding in East Lansing.

EAS Howell showing a clear aspect as of 17:10 and D708 called an approach for Fowlerville, likely meeting D706 there.

D706 clear pair Fowlerville and clear 59. 17:36.

The Louisville & Indiana unit on D708 today looked very clean. It had been at Peaker since June 17th.

I thought you were an expert and you don’t even know where Harrison Rd is? Shame on you.

Bob - D705 just called OD in Detroit and you’ve got a G077-15? (Scanner stepped on it) in Webberville. Crew has arrived and will be getting on train momentarily. Unit corn train for Rose Hill, NC I believe.
