INER arrived at Coldwater at 0825 from Hillsdale with 2 cars behind GP7u #2216. They are going to spend the morning working Coldwater industries, then head back to Hillsdale, grab some more cars and the #3084, and head south. GP9 #1602 tied up at Jay Street spur today.
Their work included setting out one empty tank for corn oil loading on the spur just west of the depot, this is a new business from The Anderson’s facility in Albion; the loads are heading to Louisiana. The other car was a load set out at the Plastics plant just west of Jay Street. Their pickups included 2 tankcars from the Darling plant, 2 covered hoppers from the plastics place, and one tank at load of corn oil, before heading east around 11am.
On the way, they picked up 3 loaded scrap gons at Omnisource in Jonesville, for a new consist total of 8. At Hillsdale, the 2216 went over the wye and tied on to SD40-2 #3084, which would now be leading heading south. We caught them again near Bankers Lake and Wigent Road before cutting off the chase. They were hoping to get to Fremont and do any work there before the end of the day. Rainy and cloudy, but a fun chase day!

Re: Shortline Updates July, 2021
Grand Elk was north through Byron Center approx 8:45pm. Looked like two WAMX black locos, GMTX 2204, and about 60 cars. Quite a few autoracks spread throughout the train. Anyone have any insight what the cars are doing coming up here?
back south at 11:30pm, WAMX 3531 followed by 2 locos and about 30 cars.

Z, from what I understand the autoracks are being stored in Hughart yard.

Not too unusual. There's usually a steady stream from either direction.Raildudes dad wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 1:15 pmThat car came AA/ GLC / MMRR to Bear. An unusual routing. Most come from the east thru Paines.

Still a lot of hoppers being unloaded in Lowell and looked like another line of hoppers at Ann Street tonight for the EB GRE tomorrow. About half were dark green, with different markings than usual. Too old to remember them without writing them down!
