CSX (MI) Train Location Updates: 9/13/11

Unread post by Jochs »

Q327-12 is currently going through Benton Harbor. Guy calling signals is calling them fast, sounds like either CSX or CEFX 2013 is the leader.
Sounds like D700-12 is just coming into my radio range.

Q326 pulled up to lamar just before 0700. Sounds like CSX 5421 leading. The crew brought it to a stop there without enough time left to even tie the train down. Sounded like they'll be sitting on it until a yard crew is on duty.

Edit: Q335 by Alto at 0740

So did Q335-11 ever make it into GRP overnight, or will it now take FIVE crews to get the train from Toledo to GR? Evidently, crew #3 had to double the hill from Beck Rd to South Lyon last night for it took way to long to get to Howell otherwise. By at 00:45 this morning, with 123 cars and 6800 feet of train, after running through the Brighton pass as well as Q334-12 CSX 5467 was sitting on the main for an hour waiting for them. And to think they already had gotten rid of 50 coal loads off this train at noon yesterday. They were calling signals this morning as Q335-11R-R-R meaning recrew #3.

Meanwhile Q335-12 was stopped at Carleton, told to tie down their train and take one of their units to catch up with Q335-11 at Trowbridge, as that was the only place they could get around them and bring the train into GRP. However, even they did not got west by Howell until 03:00 with CSX 7817. Far as I know, Q335-11 still could be sitting at Trowbridge, while Q33512 now sets crewsless and one less unit at Carleton. And to think this whole thing started at 04:00 yesterday at Plymouth.

I chuckle when I hear those ads for CSX on WWJ-950 going on about how they "Save all that fuel by sending it on their trains." Then I see stuff like this going on, and just shake my head.

"How tomorrow moves." To the next day, and the next day, and so on...

Per Chuck90X, as of 6 pm, Q335 was still dead in the siding at Carleton with CSX 8116 solo.

Hearing a West bound through Woodbury right now. Was another Westbound about an hour ago. One East bound just before that. First trains I have heard whistling through in two days. Busy line all of the sudden. I assume one of them was Q335 11 and the following was Q335 12.

Csxt 2775 as d707 east at fox. Meeting d708 at lake Odessa and will follow them back to lansing. With d708s new schedule, d708 should bring d707s cars to them and switch at lake o, although maybe d708 would be too low on time.

Your eastbound was probably Q334. Your second westbound would have been D708 which is working Lako now as Zack said. D707 will be waiting at Elmdale until 708 gets on the move eastward. Don't know about your other westbound. 335-11 was coming into GR around 7 this morning.

I meant Q335 12 & 13. I was a day off. I was wrong anyway. Thanks for the info. I've lived by these tracks my whole life and finally decided to start paying attention to what was going on. Watching you guys talk about the trains before they show up is pretty cool really. So keep up the chatter. If I dug my old scanner out would I hear much. I know there is a defect detector in mulliken but I'm not sure If I could pick it up here near Woodbury/Lake O. What frequency is it on? What else could I listen for? Road Channel maybe? Are there any online feeds I could point my browser at for info?

There's also a defect detector in Clarksville a few miles west. CSX road channel is 160.230.

There's an online feed based on the east side of Grand Rapids at this link: viewtopic.php?t=7457

Can usually hear Saugatuck to Clarksville or so on it. Sometimes if skip is good, Bangor to Lake Odessa, but that's fairly rare.

P370-13 is currently stopped at Gross with a car wedged under the lead unit after a grade crossing several 3 hours ago.
