CN to buy Iowa Northern

Unread post by MQT1223 »

Looks like another Midwest regional is going to the Canadians, this time CN is picking up the Iowa Northern instead of CP buying back a railroad they had sold off prior.

Agricultural bonanza. Decent traffic base - mostly elevators, a couple of ethanol plants I think, and some lumber. Will also bolster traffic on the Iowa division. Sorry to see the paint scheme go though.

Will be interested to see what happens with the north end of the railroad. As I understood it, a lot of trains were built and sorted for the UP in Manly. I can't imagine CN will continue to do that.
