REAL? or NOT?

Unread post by A No.1 »

No header data found for this image.

The above statement makes the image suspect to me.

However. How would you do this? The train must have been stoped or its fake if you ask me.

Train looks stopped to me....

It pretty much says in the remarks that the train is stopped...

"An eastbound stack train waits for a higher-priority TOFC train..."

I'd imagine if it's waiting, it's stopped.

Train is stopped, long exposure. Bushes to the right are lit by some type of OCF

I really don't care for the picture. It's VERY noisy and the number boards are so blown out you can't even see the cab.

Aaron, I'm sure John will chime in here at some point to let you know that it's real.

It's certainly real. The rearward lighting was probably provided by the train mentioned in the caption..

Great idea, but a bit of bad luck on the glare and headlight though.

I with Topps, it's a neat enough shot but noisy as heck and the overpowering blown out headlight and numberboards just kill it for me.

It's obviously real, note that the stars are moving throughout the long exposure. I think it would have been better if the headlights were off but you take what you can get.

Must be the edit job that makes it look a bit painted to me.

Don't get me wrong. The shot is awesome. I wish I would have the capability of taking a shot like that. I'm not that good yet.

When I see the header data missing I get suspicious.

Not to mention I was drinking and didn't read the caption. LoL.

Maybe the 1600 ISO is why it looks "painted", for lack of a better word, to me.

Don't sell yourself short. If you have a quality tripod, you're more than capable of taking a shot like that (as long as you have the opportunity to).

I don't have any EXIF data on any of my shots, and it has always been that way. I would have loved to get something with less noise, but I had literally five minutes to set up, focus, and shoot before the train took off. I'm bummed that I didn't get as good a shot here as I had hoped; perhaps I will do better next time. I'm going to try converting the RAW with Canon's software and see if that makes any difference with the noise. If there is improvement, I'll replace the shot on RP with the better version.

Better next time? I dont think I could do it that good in that short of time.

Again, The shot is awesome. I guess I asked if it was real or not because it IS so cool. It looks so cool it almost looks like a painting. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. I think most people automaticly assume the worst.

Nice shot John.
