You need to crop out all that garbage on the left side. By that time, your image will probably be too small. You need to identify any eye sores or obstructions/distractions before you take the photo; as well as composing the shot before the train gets there. This will help alleviate unnecessary cropping. In this shot, you should have either waited for the train to get closer or used more zoom if you weren't already zoomed all the way in.

I was hoping to use the garbage as a type of photo prop, but I guess in this instance, it doesn't exactly work. :?

With all due respect, why in the world would garbage make a good photo prop?? :? For something like this to work, it needs to be either railroad-related or have some aesthetic value (pleasing to the eye).

Agreed with Tops, and I hope you took more frames of this train. Try something where the train is closer to you, and even then it can get nabbed with the "common/cloudy" rejection.

I've got plenty of shots of this local and the other daily local, but this was the only location where the trees blocked out the bland sky, and it would seem as though a flubbed that opportunity. However, I still have a couple others that might have a chance, so we'll see what happens.

Do you guys think there's any opportunity for this one?

I've looked at it again and I plan on sharpening it if I do try it on RP. Or would it just be a waste of an upload slot?

I like it, but they will more than likely boot it for being a cloudy day.

Cropped too tight on the bottom right, and needs contrast work.

Id suggest a Local Contrast Enhancement, and some saturation as well. And recrop to get the nose back from the edge of the frame.

It isn't daily, it runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Here's my version, with LCE of 25/40/0 and +10 saturation.

I still recommend adjusting the crop.

Needs some CCW Rotation. Nice shot Cody. BTW, How do you get around so much?

I used to stay in Rochester NY YEARS AGO. I wish I had taken photos back then!
