Removing Paint from Plastic Models

Unread post by AARR »

Hi guys, I have a few plastic models that I'd like to remove the factory paint and repaint. I would appreciate any recommendations/suggestions from those of you that have done this.

Define plastic models.

91% rubbing alcohol works on 90% of stuff.

HO scale railroad cars. A box car from Atlas and a gondola from Proto 2000. I'd like to get down to the bare-plastic without ruining it.

side note..opinions about oven cleaner for paint removal? Heard about it through the grape vine...not to keen on it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like 91% rubbing alcohol is the way to go.
