WE bought two exxx-AC (algoma Central), exx-WC, ex-CN, SD40-2's. Now WE 6315-6316. No SD45. Both have been to Detroit already.

Last question are they still in WC paint or did WE paint them?

WC colors, with Black WLE Speed lettering on the side, in the gold stripe, and Black WE style numbers on the cab side.

Wait? I thought that the WE bought two WC SD40-2s, not SD45s?

DM&IR 869 is now lettered for NREX as of today. Expect it, as well as the other DM&IR engines they purchased and WC 2500 to be shipped out of Homewood soon, with the DM&IRs likely heading for Dixmoor and 2500 likely heading for Silvis.

EJ&ESDM809 wrote:I'm thinking that maybe the fake GTs will probably be the ones that head up to the DM&IR. Sounds like CN is going to let the leases on the ex-GCFXs assigned to the WC expire, along with the remaining WC SD40-2s (6004-6006). 6002 and 6003 are already retired. Get you photos of the maroon WC SD40-2s while you can.
WC 3009, a GP40, is at Lansing, Michigan right now as power for the ballast train working the Farm Lane reconstruction on the Michigan State University campus. Tonight it's in the Lansing Yard (Snow Road) and is coming back to Farm Lane tomorrow.

DM&IR SD38 205 is now retired, another maroon engine down. Expect it to begin its trip to Homewood soon.

Add DM&IR 201 to the retired list, like 205 expect it to head south to Homewood soon. Sounds like the retirements are picking up pace again, and more ICs are arriving on the DM&IR so expect this rapid retirement pace to continue. DM&IR 214 is now the last straight SD38 left. Other then that and one SDM all that is left is three SD40-3s and a couple SD38-2s. Only one of the DM&IR engines, SD40-3 403, is expected to remain active, the rest will be retired.

DM&IR SDM 316 has been retired, leaving just one SDM active on the roster. DM&IR 201 and 205 are now at Homewood. Former DM&IR 205 renumbered NREX 205, along with 869, 203 and former GTW 4997 are now at NRE Dixmoor, 203 and 869 are being rebuilt and repainted for whatever railway they were sold to.

Today is the end of a era on the Missabe, the last SDM, 308 as well as SD40-3 412 have been retired. The SDMs have now been completely wiped off the roster.

Good and bad news, the good news is DM&IR SDM 308 is back. CN needs a SDM or a four axle to switch at Forbes, but SD38 214, a former EJ&E engine, is now retired.

Scratch CN GP9RM 4122 from your lists. I spotted this unit in the Woodcrest storage lines, and have heard she has been retired. Anyone know where this unit was last assigned? GTW 4614 was also parked, and retired. CN 2600 is getting an overhaul. It was outside the shop on freight car trucks, also missing its engine, and generator.

Another engine has been saved from the scrappers. DM&IR 316 is being sent to a museum not sure where but they want it in operating condition to pull passenger trains.

DM&IR 213 was involved in a sideswipe collision but repaired at Proctor. 212 was sent to Woodcrest with a oil leak and repaired, thankfully not retired. I am not sure if CN repainted it or not but I seriously doubt it. It is doing test runs in Illinois then it will head back to the Missabe. DM&IR 316 was donated to the Missabe Railroad Historical Society and will be based out of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth, and it will be operatable as CN is putting all parts they stripped from it back in at Homewood before sending it to the museum.

saw about a dozen or so of the GCFX/WC SD40-2s sitting in IHB's Blue Island yard. They were it the Hale's Yard area on the east end.
