Second GR Area Rail scanner feed

Unread post by trnwatcher »

I've had this site up (well mostly up) for going on 2 years now. I have all GR CSX, NS, GRE, and other rail freq's in my scanner. Here is the link to the feed.
http://owndawg.homedns.org:8000

If you have problems accessing it let me know. Sometimes my DNS redirection doesn't update as it should automatically and I have to force a DNS address update if Comcast decides to change my address.

Tech stuff: Here is the link to what I am running currently

Finally! I had tried getting in contact with you for quite a few months, asked around..no one knew who ran the other Grand Rapids feed... Happy to see you've joined up, and welcome to the additional GR scanner link.

Hey Steven, I just tried your scanner and got a lot of noise...some odd interference of some kind. Is your scanner still up and running?

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Yes it is JT. I'm having some interference issues with what I think is a neightbors cordless phone. I'm just using an old Uniden desktop scanner for this feed and I get a lot of intermod from cordless phones and the Grandville PD. If they make a traffic stop or are near my condo complex within a 1/4 mile they bleed through on almost evey channel. I've been looking at upgrading this scanner to a desktop ham set. Probably a Yaesu. When I get it upgraded I'll post to the board here.

Note:
the former Ludington (Baldwin) Sub had the CGE prefix between Sunnyside and Baldwin, east and west, used the CB prefix, and the Manistee Sub used the CBA prefix..

Glenn, Thanks for the info. I updated the map on my live scanner page with your info, also adding the GDLK and C&M trackage. Still working on getting a new scanner, but tax return is coming....;-)

PC took it's last breathe yesterday apparently. Will take me a few days to get the time to get another one put together. Will probably change off Shoutcast while I'm at it. I'll report the new address when I'm back up and broadcasting.

May I suggest icecast. Much less delay than scoutcast had for me at least.

Eureka....it only took 6 months, 2 PC's and having a Saturday with nothing to do but the 2nd CSX Grand Rapids Scanner is back online. Still with Shoutcast (for now) so I apologize for any delay in the feed.
