In 2023 the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (which manages the air field and surrounding industrial lands) posted this bidding opportunity for the construction of a manufacturing building and rail siding. If it’s the same plan I saw once a few years back, it would be located to the ...

We're at a crossing near Willis, Michigan, on the old Wabash main trying to make something of the weak November sun on a 2009 afternoon. While it was pleasing to see the sunshine, fall must have come and gone early this year as the trees are totally devoid of leaves! First up, an eastbound Triple Cr...

Impressive itinerary, when's the last time a steam loco took on a trip of this magnitude? I was thinking of the 4449’s impressive trip from Washington to Owosso and back in 2009. I ran into multiple people from across the country chasing 765 on the INER last fall who recalled that trip and the oppo...

Nice! Glad someone is doing the Carleton thing and you’ve already got yourself a grain train which is an added bonus to the “regular lineup.” Enjoy the day!RoyalKingoftheRails wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 10:17 amNorthbound Grain train with CSX 4576 and 3168 leading through Carleton MI. I dug around back through my phone to find the photos I snapped of the one time I saw this “other” 65 Tonner doing some work at the Holland Padnos property. Date is December 23, 2021. I have not seen it move before or since. Close inspection reveals it has seen a lot of “excitement” over its life an...

They were told they would be tying down on a pass track at a location I couldn't quite understand: "Welly, Willion" & has me wondering if the Dispatcher was referring to Williamston at mp CH71.5 Wick? Wayne? Lilley Rd. (CC 83.06) perhaps? I have seen them park trains there. Google maps calls it S. ...

Grand Elk came out of Elkhart heading for Kzoo passing the Elkhart cam at 05:09 with 2 SD units and 52 cars including a little bit of everything. I think Q304/Q305 ran to and from North Yard via the Lincoln Secondary to someplace in Ohio. I recall seeing Q305 heading south at Delray and navigating Carbon Works heading for the Lincoln. This ended around 2008/2010 I think. http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10012/thumb_CC4832_Delray...

End cab switchers, round roofed GP9s, and Budd built coach cars from the 1940s and 50s - it’s still a bit of a living history museum just across the river in Windsor! Thanks for sharing this photo set.

Graphic traffic is supposed to pick up in the next week or so. Expect 105 to make more trips up there per week. I’ve seen a couple of Michigan-bound Elk trains passing the Elkhart railfan camera recently with healthy cuts of the Thiele tank cars which typically go to Graphic Packaging in Kalamazoo....

Re: Carleton, MI railfan meet
FWIW sometimes railfan meets are more about the camaraderie than about total train counts. Why did we ever meet in Durand (or any other place in Michigan) instead of just doing Fostoria or the Water Level Route? Granted, I don’t think Branch, Greenbush, or Thompsonville would make good gathering loc...
