Re: CSX Pullman, MI Derailment, March 16, 1998.
CP could run a double stack INTERNATIONAL container unit or a domestic AND an international but not TWO domestic boxes on each other. I remember this one...I think at least one container train in GRP went south on the Conrail to Elkhart and west. Some of the others out of Chicago went B&O then north...

Great and good retort DaveO! Remember the Tao...those who know do not speak, those who speak do not know. Where is that dead horse meme when you need it? Oh and working for a class one for many years, I have seen such foolishness too many times. You either do your best to overcome dumb or just let t...

Re: CSX Passenger Trains in East Lansing?
It is not a passenger train per-se. Executive train for the Sir Toppem Hat types that tour the system looking at STUFF. Bosses out of the front office in Jacksonville.
That is all.
That is all.

Re: GLC getting rid of alco trucks!?
When you have a Class One with lots of cash and shop resources it is very doable. But why do it? Probably be cheaper to lease much newer power.

The AlCo trucks have bigger, beefier traction motors. No sense changing them...REBUILD THEM.

Strike Averted For Now.
Sanity has prevailed. Like our late and great UTU Local 313 secretary used to say...on a regular basis..."Pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered." He also counseled that letting anything go to congress for settlement is a BAD IDEA. The millionaires sitting in congress already whimper about railroad work...

Maybe they can detour up the Amtrak line from Porter? Not THAT far fetched.....or the FW&E? I guess that could be a more viable option.

Re: Bellevue Terminal to be converted to flat-switching
NS put a ton of money building the Bellevue yard and the Hump on a very busy yard. Not sure what the thinking was to close the Hump. I know that is a bottleneck getting trains in the yard in the past but not rail traffic has slowed some. However NS like other large rail companies are hauling longer...

Re: St. Joe Swing Bridge Work
Thats what 36 track was for. Not that the cars were lost, they were in 36 track after all...it was...where does this one go and when did it get here. It usually just took the effort of someone to do its past history and find the LAST LOGICAL input and then one could usually find out what you needed ...

Re: St. Joe Swing Bridge Work
Same happens with the Holland yard job. I asked the engineer this past weekend about how they communicate with Rouge and get their paperwork. He said they don't. The cars that arrive are entered and then the cars requested by customers comes and on to printer it goes and VIOLA! Our work for the day....

Yes, There's NO plan to start the plant up any time soon. Clueless IMHO. https://oilprice.com Get some information and then....the price of oil determines when production goes up and it is going UP and fracking is going up and pumping oil is UP. Nothing changes the law of supply and demand come nov...
