Re: Pedestrian Struck/Killed By Train in Elkhart on 8/16/23.
It was seen live on the East camera at the station. The camera feed was taken down as soon as possible after the incident. There may be a screen capture floating around but if VR finds it they are enforcing their copyright to get it taken down. I saw it on the VR feed. The pedestrian seemed obliviou...

I'll pass. The building is not entirely on the property being sold (not including the platform area). About half an acre on one side of the tracks and a tenth of an acre on the other side of the tracks. Zoning restrictions that would not allow the current building if it were to be built today. Hopef...

Rainy Saturday ... but I did get a few pictures. In Michigan City ... Shown are Franklin St and Wabash ... an overhead crossing light has been added to the arms that originally held traffic signals. A lot cleaner design than the original. 20230805-11thSt-Franklin.jpg 20230805-11thSt-Wabash.jpg 20230...

Re: South Shore Double Track
From the project update email ... the OWLS (one way low speed) diamond where the EJ&E crosses the South Shore (and US 12/20 in the background). The design of an OWLS diamond allows the fast trains on the main line to pass with lower speed trains on the cross track. The design leads to less damage to...

Goshen and Auburn are close enough for any local scrappers to still use OmniSource. Are any of the base level OmniSource sites "Collection Site, Ferrous Processing, Nonferrous Processing, Auto Recycling" rail served? The remaining Michigan sites will be Adrian, Bay City, Ecorse (River Rouge), Jackso...

I wish I could say it was poor audio quality on the video, but they were awful in person as well. Expect the same noise at the road crossings.

The site still shows up when I search at https://www.omnisource.com/locations/
I thought it was closed years ago, but I may be thinking of another location.

At this point they've completed pretty much all of the grade work. Track is quickly approaching the EJ&E diamond in Gary from the east. They also shifted the existing main east of Lake Street this past week, too. The bridge abutments at CSX and Old Hobart are also in advanced phases of construction...
