Re: CMGN 1 transfer caboose with a new paint job
Does Huron and Eastern still use the old GTW transfer caboose? Are there still two on the property?

Re: Sturgis to Coldwater Line
It appears Atlantic Packaging no longer ships by rail... Thank you for contacting Atlantic! Our Sturgis facility does have an indoor rail siding that allows us to put 5 rail cars inside. We used to receive rolls by rail on occasion from the mills. We have never shipped finished skids/rolls out by r...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study
How about another Pere Marquette train?!! There should not be one train between GR and Chicago per day. This could turn out to be a blunder for Holland, Hudsonville and GR. I reference the WES Commuter train in Oregon as a case study. This train runs for 14.7 miles between Beaverton, Oregon and Will...

Re: Sturgis to Coldwater Line
Just wanted to share some other photos I took two weeks ago. I am sure these will be of interest to some. The old Morris caboose has been placed at the end of the old quarry spur again in White Pigeon. http://s3.amazonaws.com/rrpa_photos/129660/IMG_0017.JPG I found ALAB 500006 next to the grain silo...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study
Down the road they talk of a Central GR to the airport... Now, that might just work. So, you hop on the train in Grandville or Hudsonville to go to your job in the Holland area. The train stops at the Holland depot. How then do you get to your job that could easily be several miles away? I agree th...

Lansing Board of Water and Light Cabooses
Does anyone know what the heritage of the caboose at the Eckert Power Plant is? Re: Michigan Southern Railroad in Sturgis 11/2/18
Wow, great report about the operation along the hard-to-catch former GR&I! This line was looking pretty distressed for several years when Frank Miller & Sons was the only customer. Now, Frank has a new spur in addition to his old one, and Omnisource is back open for business again, and things look ...

Re: GDLK Operations
Fake News on election day. This takes the cake, I thought the boxcars and caboose were going to the border to stop the caravan? The GP-35s are going to pull the caboose with Trump in it to fool the Democrats in Atlanta. darn I've had too much coffee already. Time to vote. I have confirmation from t...

Re: Sturgis to Coldwater Line
Conrail was last class1 carrier. Gordy bought it from Sturgis to White Piegon at first as Mark Campbell and Kevin Mckinney who were partners with Gordy on the Wine Country Dinner train, tried to make a go of it from Sturgis to Coldwater. Gordy eventually got that too. Dates someone else will have t...

I was also wondering if someone could provide a brief summary of the history of the Michigan Southern. Which Class 1 sold the line? When did the Morris operations end? When did the last train go past Sturgis (east)?
