Re: 1225 to Port of Monroe
https://www.facebook.com/100009331462295/posts/3132693720384979/?d=n So this was announced today. If this holds up this will be the engines first venture off GLC in over a decade. My question is how in the world will 1225 be getting to the Port of Monroe? It will obviously be towed, but what way wi...

Re: BO (Botsford) Tower Demolition
Some of the Conrail old-heads running Amtrak trains would crack the whip west of Kalamazoo. That is until they caught Bernie Potts go through Lawton at 100+MPH. The Decatur Police Department called BO threatening to start writing tickets if trains didn't slow down. Bill Pontius replied "Well if you...

Re: Woodhaven yard in trenton/riverview
Yes, someone put a train, not a car into the Chrysler engine plant. The train was an empty steel train (about 60 cars long) for Great Lakes Steel that couldn't go north because there was NO room at Conrail's River Rouge yard. The decision was made to shove off the train on the northbound siding (no ...

Re: Derails removed at Saint Joe Bridge
The Conrail bridge in Detroit lost their split rail derails after they reconfigured the interlocking and replaced mainline rail. Years ago. Bridge operator was in control of both. But now all are gone. Derails, bridge operator and the tower.

Re: Derails removed at Saint Joe Bridge
The derails are a "SAFETY" device, per the CSX rules. So it looks like the CSX gave up on safety then . Which is cheaper 1) maintaining the derails or 2) fishing equipment ( & maybe an employee or 2 ) out of the river and dealing with the environmental issues & fines ? Asking for a freind.

Re: Coca Cola closing Detroit plant.
Cars spotted on track next to building, unloaded by crane, moved by BIG hi-low, cars moved by track mobile. 10 years sound about right. They were hoping to save money by using rail. Turned out to be to slow for their needs.
