I'm not sure why its grinding, but the athearn blue box units are pretty easy to take the shell of and run with out the shell. If you haven't tried that already it might be a good place to start. Also there is not much in there as far as weights go so you can see whats going on fairly well.

I just noticed that your 35 is a later model because it has the thin frame where the bell is. In the older versions there was a drop at that point. Good eye, I didn't notice that nor was I aware of the difference. I did notice that the fuel tank on the walthers model looks a little different. I tho...

Thanks, but the details are pretty much stock from the factory. The only changes I did were the renumbering, CSX patch, and the weathering. Otherwise the model was close enough for me. Thats a really nice picture! I love seeing stuff from this era in Michigan, and the unusual perspective makes it even better. So much to take in, chessie loco, old chessie caboose, old signals, 86' auto parts box.
