Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
Not sure what else NS can do. They need to run the trains that way or go around. Maybe stager. Go around, then they will have issues somewhere else.

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
No crews means status stays the same I guess. Everything stays jammed up. Maybe that is how it will stay until someone figures it out.

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
I can't believe that NS can't get any crews for the line. I heard on another forum that NS was hiring crews for Bellevue like three weeks ago so they must be applying. Anyway that is only part of the issue there. I'm not a railroad guy just a railfan. By just being a spectator I can see there is a t...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
You boys should read the Surface Transportation Board weekly notes to look at the traffic that is not moving on the rails on the Bellevue line. It is very impressive of how many trains are sitting and not moving on the line and how many frights are sitting in the yards for days without going anywher...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
I heard last month that NS is hiring for crews up that was ASAP. That is what I read on another forum page. I know CSX used or is using part of the Buckeye Yard. The problem for both NS and CSX is what is going to happen in another year when the Panama Cannel product starts coming over on boats. Rai...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
From what I last seen the Buckeye yard is mostly used for storage for CSX and NS. Little of no activity goes on there any more due to the infrastructure. So they still may dump from freights in there for longer storage. I really don't think NS wants to move any more money in there as it just doesn't...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
I agree with CSX_CO adding more tracks in the yard isn't going to solve the problem. The Peavine cannot take Double Stacks. It would be too expensive for NS to rebuild the line to take on this product. Yet the Peavine would take some pressure off the Bellevue main line. Then the problem ends up in C...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
It appears that adding more rails in the yard (that is if there is even room to do so) isn't going to take very much pressure off the main line. How many trains run on that line pre day? Maybe NS needs to find another alternative route.

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
Amtrak is only in the way not a player in the mess just stuck. Take today I'm here on business the tracks have been jammed up already this morning. I must say they are getting off the main a little faster than last Friday. NS has tracks that are not taken up just out of service not being used. I thi...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
I really don't think it is all about crews I think it is mostly all about lack of open rails. CSX has two rails up there and that both rails lines they use gets busy the first half of the week. Then NS has plenty of traffic to boot and no place to go. Trains are jammed up all over the place. I seen ...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
The log jam up in Bellevue on average is unbelievable and getting worse. There is just nowhere to go with all the trains that are using the tracks up there. NS best get its act together and soon. NS is gaining more and more business and is growing at a rapid rate. Orders are up! Closed lines will ne...

Re: Southshore Express Trains
The Chesterton rail line gets plenty of traffic. Seen two Amtrak trains on that line in recent weeks. Think they run twice a day on that line.

Re: NS Peavine talk
On the subject of Jaw Tooth this guy loves the Peavine and is not very happy that the line has been cut in the last year. Now the line is open to Seaman yet not sure how much rail traffic if any will be going up that far east. Jaw Tooth has his own You Tube page and it is well worth subscribing to i...

Re: NS Peavine talk
I agree double stacks will not cut it on the Peavine. For NS to spend millions just for double stacks won't happen. Yet in three more years NS is going to need to do something with increased traffic from the eastern seaboard going west. The Peavine as I see it will open back up. How much remains to ...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Has Conley Trucking always hauled the stone there or is this since NS stop using the line and least it to the CCET. I would think they would be able to haul more stone on rail and it would be more cost effective.

Re: NS Peavine talk
Correct and if they get more business out east of Seaman NS will most likely extend the line to Peebles. Really nothing in Peebles if the tie place is closed. Not sure about that and don't think the CCET will transport ties to NS maybe they will not sure how that works. Not sure what business is in ...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Sure a few eggs were tossed as a few here said that the line is dead in the water. And yes NS doesn't want the line right now yet they did open a few more miles of track. For months it has been said that NS is not going to open any more track and they filed for discontinuance yet it wasn't long afte...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Well it appears like some egg got tossed in a few faces. Never say never when it comes to NS. Sure NS doesn't want any part of the Peavine yet the CCET is moving forward picking up some business and wants more of the line open. NS opened a few more miles for the Short Line. Now that being said NS ha...
