Re: CCET operations

Looks like the CCET has taken on or most of the tanker cars for storage that they contracted. Afton sides are full, and many more spread all over the Peavine. Looks like a few hundred or more. I know the CCET was going to get around 400. My buddy said more on the way this coming week. It has been co...

Re: Old photos on the Peavine ....

Awesome! I was under the Little Miami Clare bridge fishing the day that 611 went by. I was shocked to see it as I had no idea what was going on. The Peavine never had a passenger train go over the bridge during the mid morning and it was long as I remember right. Good pictures thanks for posting!

Re: CCET operations

Interesting so for the CCET this could be a major revenue source storing cars. I know the Peavine has many siding areas so they could in fact load up all their siding with storage. The decrease in oil and gas shipments even coal the CCET could really score on storing cars.

Re: CCET operations

Thanks for the info Midland Sub I did know about the Undercliff a few years ago. This also happened at Clare many years ago on the siding by Clare Creek. I can see tanker cars getting stored as oil shipments are down. Not sure how low that will last. It is good to see the CCET picking up some unrela...

Re: CCET operations

Question when a rail company like the CCET stores these cars on the line how long do they keep them. I always hear that large rail companies needs cars all of the time and buy them from other rail companies. I guess these are the ones they don't need at the present time. I take it the rail cars are ...

Re: Amtrak train from D.C. crashes in Philly.

Take another look at the engine itself. I watched CNN this morning and it looks like the glass in the back of the engine was damaged much like the front windshield. Need to look at the back of the engine as well. Not sure if there are any pictures of the back of the engine.

Re: Amtrak train from D.C. crashes in Philly.

I have taken that train a few times as I stated above. Here is my opinion for what it is worth. The engineer here has been on that rail many of times and knows the speed limit. I think something may have went wrong with the train and It might not be all the engineer's fault. I mean the train just le...

Re: Amtrak train from D.C. crashes in Philly.

I have been on that train before a few times. Normally the train hits that curve around 50 mph maybe a little higher. I would say if the train was going 102 around that curve two thing may have happen. Going that fast there is a lean. Speed and tracks may have given way. That track sees plenty of ra...

Got it think there might be some cars sitting on the side tracks east past Clare today.

Re: CCET operations

So let me get this straight the CCET is going to store tankers on the Peavine siding. I do know short lines do get some revenue for storage of cars. There is plenty of siding on the Peavine to store tankers. Even Clare has several unused rails. There is some activity down at Clare this morning accor...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

That you Bellevue Guy for the answer. Now I know it isn't the road, cleared up and understand. I have noticed that trains up there run fairly fast and now slow in that area. As far as yards closed Grand Rapids Ohio thought that was a NS yard at one time maybe not. Haven't been there in a few years t...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

Here we go again! Just asked a question surely I don't live up there just go there for business and don't live on the road but have been on it many times. Never had a hold up for a train. I understand your explanation but don't understand why a few people on this forum are so rude. Ask a question ge...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

I have been on Bragg Road a few times but never knew that that road would be a issue with the railroad. I know it runs into or close to the rail yard but at one point it does run to the side of the rails. Not much traffic on that road from every time I have been up that way. Why would Bragg Road be ...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

Look at the STB report for last week. Look at NS wait times at Bellevue. Numbers don't lie! This is every week. Every week NS is running more trains to Bellevue only to sit. The question is why is NS bringing trains out of the way to run to Bellevue only to sit? I sure someone here can explain!

I see my post was deleted, yet the old guys love to give it to me and they don't get deleted. Maybe I was too harsh pissed off a few people here. Oh well reason being as I was ticked off by one of the posters here. Anyway some people here many months ago said the Peavine was on life support when if ...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

On the contrary pal I do make decisions every day where I work that affect many people. I weigh all options, sometimes that cost money, time, location. When a decision is made I look at the entire picture. NS looked at one picture Bellevue! Spend millions of dollars for a State of the Art rail yard ...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

Yup that makes sense! Close the line run everything though Bellevue and have freights sit for hours on the line. Hire more crews and Bellevue is the answer. Do you guys ever look at the wait times every week. Hours! NS is not moving anything for hours. Customers are going to bail and go to trucks or...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

Agreed there! Here is another possibility. The Panama Canal expansion will bring more traffic to NS. Currently it appears that they have more traffic than they can handle with more coming on the horizon. I would bet that NS doesn't want to open the Peavine from Portsmouth and run their power but whe...

Re: The CCET gains more business on the Peavine

Time out redside! I own NS stock not never down on the company or for CSX in that matter but you're true about the Ford plant. As soon as Ford moved out NS wanted to dump the Peavine. Ford was there bread and butter and the smaller companies on the line that didn't produce much revenue didn't intere...
