Re: PM 1225 Running at Howell Melon Festival, Aug. 20-21
Track speed in Howell in 10mph. Outside of Howell track speed is 40 mph freight and 25 mph passenger. Trips usually pull up to the first crossing in Cohoctah and then the diesel pulls the train back to Howell. Thanks for the info, so PM 1225 should be facing north for these trips? Now I just need t...

Re: PM 1225 Running at Howell Melon Festival, Aug. 20-21
How far will the train go north of Howell? Will it turn around in Cohoctah? The trains are running north from Howell to Byron, about 15 miles each way, so 30 mile round trips, makes sense since the line is 25-30mph track speed, and the trips are 1 hour long. My guess is they pull up north of Beard ...

It's a former Montana Rail Link SD45-2 one of 3 that CCET's corp bought thinking they might get to be the designated operator of the line out of North Judson, Indiana which didn't happen. 2 more should show up eventually. The Evans property where the CCET locos sit along with the passenger car are ...

Re: NS West Virginia Secondary-Columbus Oh to Alloy WV
The area at Hamilton and I70 at the ADM Grain Elevator and tracks is called Truro Station named after a township...MP 7 and Refugee just se of this location is out near Brice and Pickerington. I was thinking they might keep the power at Truro Station, since it would be easy for crews to access. But...

Re: PM 1225 Running at Howell Melon Festival, Aug. 20-21
So PM 1225 was facing north for the Hamburg trips in June, safe to assume it will be facing north for these Howell trips? That would mean a GLC diesel should lead the train south through Durand on Saturday am, then I'm guessing they'll put the diesel in front of PM 1225 on the return ferry move nort...

I don't know, I haven't gone out to look for it yet, was hoping to figure out exactly where MP 7 is on the line without actually following the line east from Bannon.Any idea what number on that NS GP38?

Re: NS West Virginia Secondary-Columbus Oh to Alloy WV
Reports on another site had a coal train with NS power, I'm guessing a 698, loaded at Burr Oak Mine last weekend, then ran up to Columbus. On Saturday 8/13, a local ran out to Thurston from Columbus to switch cars, the power was a single NS GP38 leased to Watco. It's said the power will be kept at t...

Funny, I just logged on to start a thread for the trips this weekend, and I see someone beat me to it! I'll be traveling up from Columbus, Ohio to spend the weekend up north, this will be my first time seeing PM 1225 running on the south end of the GLC, unfortunately I skipped the Hamburg trips in J...

Re: Pere Marquette #1225 Hamburg Excursions
Anyone get a picture of it coming north past Durand Union Station? Heritageunits update had it coming through Durand north 8:49pm, right at dusk. Would've loved to be there to see it even if it was towed by a GLC diesel.

Re: Pere Marquette #1225 Hamburg Excursions
Did anyone ride or chase any of the Hamburg trips today? I'd also like to know about routing since I'd be driving up north 3 hours from Ohio to see it on Saturday and hope its worthwhile. Also, typically in the past 1225 always returns to Owosso as soon as its excursions are finished, can anyone con...

Re: Indiana RR operations around Linton, IN?
Here's the long story: East of Linton, track speeds are now up to 40mph. I hear the loaded coal heading to Indianapolis 2-3 times a week in the mornings, about 8am thru Bloomington. I’m not entirely sure when the empties run, I’d guess at roughly the same time or a bit earlier. As to the manifest w...

Indiana RR operations around Linton, IN?
We will be making a railfan trip to western Indiana next weekend Oct 3-4, and were mostly focused on shooting the Indiana Railroad trains in and around Linton, IN, including spending Sat night in town. I know that most days, trains leave Jasonville and Indianapolis in the am, they meet in Switz City...

CN 8875 solo came north up the Holly Sub & took the connection east towards Flint with a lengthy baretable train at 4:00pm through Durand. We must've missed the SB that followed it down the Holly Sub while we were getting food, that would've been the EB through Linden at 4:55pm. CN 2860, IC 1004, & ...
