Re: Where Is It?
Looks like a picked a dud location; I figured someone would noticed the distinct border monument Noticing it and realizing that it's a border monument are 2 different things. However, I've noticed that sometimes the people to whom something is immediately obvious don't see the image for a couple da...

Re: PH&D Roundhouse
That old eyesore was coming down on its own anyway, but the west wall was on top of the parking lot/access road CSX uses to get to the old PH&D yard to the west of the roundhouse. It was bad enough when a wire fell over that access path last year, chunks of roundhouse wall falling/lying in the parki...

Re: Where Is It?
Is it in Lapeer, on the Lapeer Industrial? Not in Lansing which is in the 517. It's in the 269, 810, or 586. It's on one of the railroads that has trackage in Lansing. The hints above will narrow it down to which two railroads it could be, and the area code will narrow it down to which railroad.

Re: Specific location of ITM Logansport
If you're interested in the history of the location ITM is planning to go, visit the Indiana Railroads message board and do a search for the Eel River, or Logansport & Eel River. There's some really interesting history behind that location and why what's there today is still there today.

Re: Specific location of ITM Logansport
The west end of the trail is about as far east as the railroad goes. The trail itself is nice enough, but didn't connect to anything on the east end when we biked it several years ago.justalurker66 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 5:03 pmHere?

Re: Specific location of ITM Logansport
According to them, they're moving to the Logansport & Eel River Railroad property. This is what's left of the Eel River line, and runs from the west side of town into downtown. The outside connection runs down the east side of Cole Hardwood plant to the TP&W connection. IIRC, this would have been th...

Re: Mainline Steamers on Tourist Lines
Unless they've completely transformed the site in the past year or so, ITM's new location in Logansport isn't capable of hosting much, let alone a large steam locomotive. Getting that large steam locomotive into the site would be a challenge as well, considering the single outside connection they ha...

Re: The Future?
Who would even be a good potential new operator? Progressive Rail? Watco? New outfit? I doubt CSX would want those lines back... (Just playing the "What If?" Game...) Possibly Lake State. They've attempted to add other operations away from the Plymouth-Alpena/Gaylord line. Back when North Judson (I...

Re: GLC GP38 incident
I'm a teenager but I'm getting old because i remember nkp 765 conrail and the gmtx on glc long ago It hasn't been that long since 765 ran on the GLC. Definitely less than 7 years ago. "Long ago" is a term better suited for when the oldest archived posts on this site were first written. 20...

Into the tunnel to Canada about 5:23 pm. By the time they got to Port Huron they had a lot of general freight cars behind the autoracks.

Re: New Signal Installation Below Blue Water Bridge?
I think the one in the first picture (which is physically south of the BW Bridges) is for movements going north. The second picture was taken on the north side of the bridges and looks like it's for movements going south (leaving Dunn). I don't think Dunn has more than half a dozen car spots total, ...

New Signal Installation Below Blue Water Bridge?
Even though I live in the area, I haven't gone down to the park area along the St Clair River in the vicinity of the Blue Water Bridge in at least a couple months. I happened to be down there last night and was shocked to see what appears to be a pair of brand new signals on either side of the Thoma...

Re: Recent CSX Observations (Port Huron area) 10/25/20
Those are buffer cars for the tankcars. They tend to have the same set of cars way too frequently for anything to be traveling back and forth between a supplier and a receiver. They seem to have several 2 bay covered hoppers, plus the two 3 bay covered hoppers in the second picture. They also have u...
