Re: CSX New Customer in Marysville

Bump Has anyone seen any rail cars delivered to Bulk Guys? No. Last time I was over in that part of town (couple weeks ago), the mow machine was halfway between Wills Street and the elevator (it used to sit just west of Wills Street). The track is still connected, as far as I can tell, but I doubt ...

Re: CN Updates - December 2019

385 is in Port Huron. CN 2901, GECX 2040.

Something else just went "west". I didn't catch the symbol, but they were on the Flint Sub's frequency. I think the leader is CSX 6288 (could be a CN leader). 2nd unit is a BCOL 46xx series unit.

Re: Internet and tv these days

My AT&T internet is running about $50-55/month, after the $40/month promotional offer I signed up under ended. I have a TV, but it's only attached to a DVD player and an Xbox (which isn't connected to the internet). When I first moved in to the house, I planned to install an antenna, but that never ...

Re: CN Updates- September 2019

Northbound on the Mt. Clemens Sub, crossing Hall Road/M-59 right now (5:32pm). Noticed a longish string of TSBY covered hoppers in the train. It could be 384, but I'm not familiar with what runs at this time of day anymore. M382. CN/CN/CN, 180 cars. Lots and lots of grain moving to eastern Canada t...

Re: CN Derailment in Port Huron Tunnel

...you would have thought it would be a priority to maintain and inspect this important link in the system? Nothing disclosed so far suggests that CN hasn't been doing that all along. Once in a while I hear a track inspector in the tunnel (i.e. I happen to be listening at the right time), but while...

Re: CN Derailment in Port Huron Tunnel

Anyone know if the tunnel has re-opened? Still dragging wrecks out. Then all the track needs to be rebuilt. From the sound of what I heard on the scanner a little while ago, they're onto the track rebuilding part. There was video on Facebook earlier of panel track with concrete ties on flatcars bei...

Re: CN Derailment in Port Huron Tunnel

Changes at the west end of the yard would be related to operations. They added a bunch of lights and upgraded a couple yard tracks supposedly to improve something relating to a traffic pattern that was supposed to change, but I don't know exactly what it was. If trains have the ability to cross over...

Re: CN Derailment in Port Huron Tunnel

I believe the above poster meant STB not TSB? I wrote TSB. The lead agency hadn't been announced (to my knowledge) when I wrote the post. It was just a guess, personally I'd much rather see the NTSB conduct the investigation. Considering how much damage there is on the other side of the river, I'll...

Re: CN Derailment in Port Huron Tunnel

I'm surprised a DPU would be allowed on any train in there. I'm sure they are rethinking that idea. Land barges could be pulled through in sections and recombined on the other side. Just a thought here. Does anyone know if the DPU was actually in the tunnel when it occurred, or still out on the can...

Re: CN Updates-June 2019

I don't think they can force Amtrak customers out of their way, at least not without permission from the city. The City of Port Huron owns the property the Amtrak station sits on. Being a private corporation, I'm pretty sure eminent domain doesn't apply to CN. BUT if you can drive to the station in ...

Re: CN Updates-June 2019

GTW 4929 pushed 5 bulkhead flatcars of concrete ties in the direction of the tunnel about a half hour ago. 4929 has since returned to the west (west of my vantage point) without the cars. Prior to 4929's arrival, a single truckload of concrete ties had Departed the yard office in the direction of th...

Re: CN Updates-June 2019

Looks like M383 derailed in the Tunnel this morning, will update later today. 34 cars on the ground, DPU pushed derailed cars into roof of tunnel, some damage. Thanks for posting this. WWJ was reporting on the derailment this morning, but this little detail wasn't included anywhere else I've looked...

Re: EWR Upgrades

Hey Great Lakes Railfan, the original E&W from Elkhart did indeed connect to the GTW at main street in Mishawaka at the now gone freight station, also on Main street. Back to the east, just east of Merrifield Street there was a "Y" with the E&W coming in from the northeast and one branch would foll...

Does the elevator in Imlay City not ship by rail anymore? The Vlasic plant's siding is still in place, but the switch has been gone for years. East of Imlay City, the Champion plant on Graham Road was a customer at one time and the remnants of their siding can still be seen on Google Maps. Star of t...

Re: CN expanding Tappan Jct.

What happens to the roundabout at Range and Griswold? Its only been there a few years. That was phase 1 of the overpass project. The county purchased and cleared much of the real estate between Range and BW Kennels since the roundabout was completed, and I believe the utility relocation has been co...
