Re: Marquette Rail Santa Express
Well with the news of GLLX/GTW 4433 doing the honors this year, it's a good thing I planned to shoot the train. Hmmm, a K-27 on Friday and a GTW GP9 High Hood on Saturday, going to be some of the best sets i'll have had all year. Gotta shoot some big thanks over to the GLLX Godfather for this lash-...

Re: ATSF to return to the rails
It's funny to me because I see real ATSF and BN units every day. Nothing like switching with a ATSF patched SD40-2, oh the turbo sounds great.

Re: Interesting Newspaper Article in Lenawee County
The reason Class 1s leave their power on unit coal or grain trains is for faster turn around times. Just change crews and go. Also if you have to swap power then the power has to go somewhere and you are just burning resources for no real good reason. Now if the short line doesn't want the class 1 p...

Re: Interesting Newspaper Article in Lenawee County
I thought the going rate was about 3 million per mile... I wish Mark and the team at the ADBF the best of luck with their endeavor. From what I have read its about $1 million per mile but many factors can make it a little lower or much higher. Probably the highest cost for relaying track is legal b...

They should all still be there, but I haven't checked since August. I would not expect them to go anywhere anytime soon.

Re: Marquette Rail Sixth Annual Santa Express! 2011
With 2635 out, I'd say 3001 HAS to be pulling it Why do you say that? I say that because 3001 is the last one that has a believeable paint scheme for MQT. The new ex UP units do have MQT lettering, but still show much of their old owner's junk (I've always hated that yellow--I call it "puke yellow"...

Re: Marquette Rail Sixth Annual Santa Express!
At this point, any paint on the 02 would be good. I have backed off on the Milw scheme though. It is still very much a CP unit and would look better orange with a PacMan, or the red twin flag's scheme. Ahhh! Just give her the same paint as 3001 already!!!!!!!!! Oh but that's far too boring! And bes...

Re: A Brand New Mineral Range
This is wonderful news! 2 years ago myself and CERY drove down the hole line out to Republic, its still in very good shape just needs some finish grading and a little stone. It's "Whole" with a w and yes the sub roadbed is still very much intact. They should be able to get it back in service in no ...

Also, look for 2 boxcars on the southbound trains, as this summer 2 were parked next to the roundhouse, and they said those should be southbound at somepoint in the near future, if they havn't already gone. This is more new business from Decorative Panel(formerly Alpena Harboard / Louisianna-Pacifi...
