Re: Railfanning The State Capitol (Lansing)

Just be careful, that is a rough part of town once the sun starts to go down or when alone. I know I have guys come out of nowhere on me before. If any one wants to go down there but wants some one to tag along let me know. Remember strength in numbers.

Re: Lansing Trains

Thats the old Lake Shore and Michigan Southern, or whats left of it. Now it goes to QD and they get covered hoppers of plastic pellets about every six weeks if I remember correctly.

Re: C&O Semaphores

So flipping through the 1984 Chessie System Timetable they don't list Lake Odessa as a Train Order Station but there was one at Plaster Creek and Fulller so would they get their orders there and then proceed onto the Plymouth sub and off of the Grand Rapids Terminal Sub?

Re: Snow Emergency (What is it?)

Some of the C&O and GTW poles come down to about 10 in spots. They only go up to cross roads and tracks.

Re: train symbols

So with that Diagram are the even numbers east or west bound or does one ignore that and just use the location symbols like GR or FL?

Re: C&O Semaphores

OK so I have this question now, were they using train orders with DTC or where they using Track Warrants?

Oh and this is fascinating by the way.

Re: C&O Semaphores

Well I don't want to sound like a broken record but how did that work? I though they had gone to DTC with signals by then.

The Clinch Vally...I have operated on your layout...I think it was one of the Detroit Op Sig get togethers. Great layout!

Well you worked there...Ensel yard at Logan street, summer of 1987. It's one of Ian's photos.

Re: C&O Semaphores

Yeah train order boards are easy, also is this a train order board?

I am assuming it is because it says TO but you know what happens when you assume...

Re: C&O Semaphores

Well the thing is that I don't know if the track diagram just uses that semaphore symbol for all the signals. Thats why I am trying to figure this out.

C&O Semaphores

I was looking through the C&O track charts for C&O's Plymouth Sub and they showed semaphores on the route but the notes run from the late 30's to the late 70's so my question to those of you who were there, when were the semaphores removed?

Re: What scale do you model?

Well I use code 55 in N scale and the only problem that I have is with the high profile wheels and either swap with the micro-trains low profiles or Fox Valley metal wheels.
