The graphic included with the article shows the line between Dearborn and Pontiac as part of the proposed track purchase. I don't think this is correct.

Notice how often the number "40" appears in that roster. It's smart business sense to stock only one line of parts. The Ottawa that I am familiar with is served by CSX, as part of their New Rock Sub. The Illinois Railway also has a line up to Aurora. Iowa Interstate trains operate through on CSX.

You are forgetting the single largest problem - MONEY. If the state had any, they'd already be running the commuter service. Everything else is details, despite how incompetent and unprepared the commuter train planners have shown themselves to be.
