352 has a P42 leading & nothing on the tail... Didn't catch the number as we zipped past.

Re: Amtrak updates June 2019
Seems to be a slow order west of Dearborn, I'm waiting for #353 at Ann Arbor, and it hasn't exceeded 16mph since leaving Dearborn, they just keep pushing back the departure time.

Re: ITCS
A contact at MDOT told me that Chargers are supposed to start running today on Wolverines from Chicago and Friday on the Blue Water. Let me know if this occurs. Andy Is there any indication on a train/ date that will have the first “charger revenue run” to this point. Mainly wondering if it will le...

Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
Do we know which Chargers will be in the pool? Presumably it's all the ones that were being stored at Pueblo.

Re: Amtrak Kicks 13 Y/O off Train in BC
And have you ever tried to navigate Amtrak's website? Try to get a price for a ticket from Sacramento to Reno. It took me around in circles. told me all about departure and arrival and seating and ammenaties (such as they are) but when I asked for price? OY! One long circle jerk and yet...I still h...

They have a system set up, if you follow the rules. https://www.amtrak.com/unaccompanied-minors-policyConrailDetroit wrote:Or, perhaps Amtrak could be like Greyhound and require an Unaccompanied Child Form that must be filled out at the station with ID from the parent or guardian.

Re: Amtrak FY 2020 Grant Request
Not sure how DET-TOR would work. There really isn't a viable track connection between the current station & the tunnel. And "Restoration"? Historically CHI-TOR ran via Port Huron; which still makes the best sense track-wise. Maybe if you changed the Wolverine to end at Port Huron rather than Pontia...

Re: Two MI Amtrak Chargers in Chicago
I posted in the ITCS P42 thread, you can get my sources there. But Chargers should be back to testing on the MI line soon (probably more training then testing, as they've already done some testing on the line) with them running revenue service before the summer... if all goes according to plan.

Re: Amtrak ITCS P42's
The latest AASHTO High Speed Rail meeting notes state that: • 5 MI units will be moving from Pueblo to Chicago in the next few weeks. * • The Michigan corridor requires ITCS version of PTC and all others require I-ETMS. The new locomotives have both systems on-board and the testing needs to include ...

Re: Amtrak Procurement Update
Those are some UGLY Locomotives! So has Cummins been a supplier for power before? How do they compare historically to EMD & GE? Cummins has made quite a few locomotive engines in the past. You probably wouldn't know them off hand, as their engines get placed inside other manufacturer's locomotives....

Just heard #353 go past my work, but was unable to see it. The horn didn't sound like the normal K5LA. Can anyone confirm the power?

Re: Ann Arbor to Traverse City study
While the TC train would be cool, I would rather see commuter trains and light rail in the metro Detroit area before this. While there were numerous reasons, lack of public transportation in Detroit was a big reason Detroit was not even considered by Amazon for its second HQ. Where did Amazon locat...

Re: Ann Arbor to Traverse City study
So there is actually an interchange between the AA & MDOT in Ann Arbor, however it has been overgrown from decades of non-use & recently essentially removed. It would require a reverse maneuver to get from one to the other. But essentially the middle track at the New Center curves up to the AA makin...

Re: City of Ann Arbor considering Quiet Zones
The crossings would require major upgrades to be compliant with FRA QZ requirements. This is where the huge costs would come in. I dont think any of then would be compliant with the QZ requirements. More just general compliant, not QZ. In particular, I was thinking about where AA crosses Main or St...

Re: City of Ann Arbor considering Quiet Zones
There is nothing wrong with quiet zones and people who don't like horns have just as much right to utilize the First Amendment as anyone else. If they can drum up the support and the financing more power to them. Ooh that's a good way of doing it... it'll never happen that way. But it'd be nice to ...

Re: City of Ann Arbor considering Quiet Zones
Every couple years a handful of new residents who've moved in next to the tracks complain to the city & the city does another survey... they then balk at the cost & it goes nowhere. Here is the flyer they're using this time: https://imgur.com/a/XfaCzky Got a bunch of incorrect information in there; ...
