Ended up going to Anna. The eclipse was awesome, I'm so glad I went! I also saw a southbound intermodal and two northbound lorams while I was there (one weed spraying, the other grinding). I also dipped south afterwards and got to see the Big Four bridge in Sidney which was really neat.

Long southbound, I’m guessing 508, going through Gaines at 7:25pm. 2 CNs for power. Going pretty slow.

I'm thinking of heading down I-75 to the Lima-Sidney area. Does anybody have info on how busy the B&O and Big Four lines are nowadays? Especially in the afternoon when the eclipse is happening.

Southbound passing Pitt Junction south of Durand at 4:42pm. 383, 382, 329 for power and a good sized mixed freight, lots of covered hoppers.

Gotta question regarding traffic on the north end of CSA (north of Milwaukee Junction) - does CSX still run any trains up there to North Yard/Sterling? I recall years ago when I would pass through that area, I'd catch both CSX and NS trains on Sterling Secondary, and there'd be a thorough mix of bot...

Looks like it peaked in intensity as an EF2 right by the railyard. I haven't seen anything about it affecting the tracks, although it did heavily damage a warehouse adjacent to it. On a side note, the National Weather Service on Twitter says this is only the second tornado recorded hitting southeast...

I ended up catching GTW 4914 after it had finished switching in the yard in Durand tonight. It left after 507 cleared town to follow it back towards Flint. I apologize for the trashy quality, it was a last minute chase using my phone in low lighting. Still was really neat seeing original blue/orange...

507 just went through Durand at 8:45pm on its way to Flint. GT 4914 (original blue paint) is switching the yard.

What appears to be 508 is going south through Linden at 8:18pm. 5 CN engines leading. IIRC the trailing units number was 5296, with the preceding two units appearing to be the same loco type. Two generic newer units were leading.

507 with 3101 is going through Durand at 7:13pm going to Flint. Very short train.

What I presume is 508 is currently rounding the High Wye in Durand to head south down the Holly Sub at 7:12pm. GTW heritage leading, generic CN trailing (didn’t take note of numbers). Lots of empty center beams today.

I know the wiki is really out of date, but I notice it says there is a CN interchange train between Flat Rock and Oakwood Yard (R975). If that or something similar is still running now, perhaps the plan is to have that train pick up blocks of intermodal at Oakwood, take them back to Flat Rock, then ...

Right by Millbocker Road where the site of a Georgia pacific plant was closed and demolished long ago.
