Re: New Ogihara Gondola Cars

I continue to see a steady flow of these gondolas cycling through CN’s Pontiac yard. From there they go to either the Ferrous Processing yards in Pontiac or Detroit (on DCON).

Re: Michigan Rail business news redux

My impression was the plant was underutilized and would need increased production to maximize its potential. The plants yard, which if I have accurate information might receive 7-10 cars a week, looks like it can handle triple that volume. I’m open to corrections and accurate information. Expansion ...

Why build a run around siding there when there is already one in Grawn just a few miles south?

Tracks are "severed" south of beacon so you can't get there. Yes easy fix but they are still cut to separate the railroad from the rail bikes for now.

Re: Would You Rather?

Would you rather watch your favorite movie in an IMAX theater by yourself or at home on a 25 inch TV with friends? Remember when 25 inches was considered a big TV????? Probably the IMAX. Jurassic Park is sooooo much better on the big screen. Would you rather all your dreams play out in real time on...

Re: Detroit & Oxford (D&OX)

SD7 6999, now designated SD7R, is back and in service and just in time because the aggregate business has picked up sooner than usual due to the mild weather. D&OX operates four to five days a week. Two to four of those days are handling construction gravel and sand and one day the three non-aggrega...

Re: Great Lakes and Ohio River Railroad

Oops, you are correct, back in 22 they were still in stone service for ICN. For sale at scrap prices  which are currently owned by the ICN and used for stone service I'm still back in 2022, give it time they may get purchased for slightly more than scrap prices (but not much more).

Nice long mainline run with a some switching too. Nice layout!

I will have to think about what layout inspired you. I think I know but I'll be darned if I can find it again.

Re: Hamilton Northwestern Railroad Co.

Customers choosing to transload rather than using their direct spurs happens more often than I thought. Each situation is probably different but I would think cost is the primary factor, poor service from the direct railroad another, convenience another, and so on. I don't understand why GO GO would...

Re: Would You Rather?

Would you rather fly with JetLink or ride in the cab of a train with one of the engineers on this board? Flying with Jetlink would be interesting because he can inform me about a lot of things. Ditto for riding in the cab with an engineer from this board but I have more opportunities to ride in a t...
