I think this is exactly what Zach didn't want: "...the prevois idiot (Engler, who I believe was the worst governor we've ever had)."

Voting is like deciding who will do the least amount of harm rather than who will do the most good. I'm going with DeVos because he's pro-life, pro-home school, and has a successful track record of being pro-"Michigan" business. I have to admit though that Gov. Granholm is a dynamic speaker. I thoug...

I'm very much pro-labor organizing. I'm opposed to current union politics. It's my "personal" experience that the unions are protecting the people whom they should not and it hurts the companies and the good employees.

Hey Railwidow, I'm glad to hear that your husband is pleased with the change he made.

I was responding to the post about CSX regretting their decision to part with the Baldwin Sub. Trust me, their not.

The people at CSX who made the decision to sell the line are patting themselves on the back because traffic is up and they don't have the expense of the crews. It's a win-win from their point of view. They don't lose sleep over the front line people who either lost their jobs at CSX or had to uproot...

Be a principle, not necessarily an owner, in a Michigan shortline railroad. I was involved in groups who made inquiries about the former CR Lansing Secondary (pre-steel plant in Holt around 1993) and CN's Romeo Sub (around 1997). CR was using the GTW from Lansing to Battle Creek to haul their lucrat...

CMGN has had a at least one coal derailment that I can recall and possibly more than one. IIRC it was on the Durand Port Huron Wye.

I didn't realize the LSRC/SBS track infrastructure was in such a tenuous condition. They're going to have to pull money from somewhere and invest it in upgrading the track. It tells me that lots of rail cars doesn't necessarily equal lots of profit. I really like their outfit and hope they get thing...

Thanks Patrick. I'm concerned that the long heavy stone trains are taking its toll on the infrastructure.

LSRC All-Door Box Cars

I just learned, thanks to Patricks pictures, that at least some of the LSRC all-door box cars have had their doors removed and now operate as covered center-beams. I'm not aware of a railroad ever doing this before. If anyone has the following info I'd appreciate learning about this: * How many cars...
