Re: Best time in the summer to railfan

All three of those spots shouldn’t have any particularly good or bad time. Something get deleted or edited away here perhaps? Nope. Short and simple. All three of those hotspots should be consistently busy both throughout the year, season and day. Not particularly "good time" that's better than any...

Re: Where Is It?

Well that would be one way. Didn't notice the reporting marks on the photo though. I do now see that if you zoom in a few levels there are reporting marks visible on the top right of the end of the nearest car. Original question still remains. Any other tell tales Y@?

Re: Where Is It?

No Grain customers this far south. Those aren't grain cars. Educate me. I know not all covered Hoppers are grain cars. From the angle in the photo it is difficult to distinguish much detail about the cars, number of bays etc. How did you know they weren't grain cars? Teach me your ways. What detail...

Re: The Steel Wheels Art Gallery featuring railroad art/graffiti

Interesting use of fonts. Uses the entire "canvas" effectively. Colors contrast yet compliment nicely. Creatures appear other worldly and creative. Well done. A solid 7. This is art.

More pictures, less (like zero) debate.
Agree. This is a Gallery thread. Not a debate thread. Please start your discussion on a new thread in the forums. Also more pictures please.

Re: NS and CP Train Location Updates 2024

The NS heritage units getting new paint. Wow. Time flies. Will they all get new paint? Kind of surprised they didn't just become ubiquitous black NS when it was time for a paint refresh.

They'll also update the train IDs to newer dates to reduce impact on the performance metrics...
This. This makes the most sense. This is the way. Very easy to sneak a newer date in there when the entire symbol has an administrative precedent for a change. Destination change or not.

Re: Solar eclipse in Ohio

I -69 was congested to capacity but mostly fluid coming and going. A few bog downs near Fort Wayne each way but other than that it was fine. Much better than trying to cross the Ohio on eclipse day in Evansville in 2017.

Re: What is this track?

It is most likely a split rail de-railer. It's purpose to put rolling stock on the ground rather than on the mainline in the event the stock is running away or otherwise moving with out proper track authority. It is more effective than other styles of de-rail devices that just sit on top of the rail...

Re: Would You Rather?

Would you rather own one pair of shoes or one coat? Coat. For sure. As long as it was black and I could wear it for work. Gotta have lots of shoes. Shoes for every occasion. Biking, Hiiking, walking, running, skiing, church, driving. etc etc etc. Would you rather your hair turn brilliantly white or...
