Ugh.
Please see the Metro-North NYC heritage unit to see how to do this right.

Re: Petersburg and related things.
Here are a couple other resources mentioning the line through Petersburg. The Ragweed Line - http://www.trainweb.org/annarbor/AARRHistory/Toledo_Ann_Arbor-Jackson/RAGWEED-DT&I.html Tracking the Toledo, Ann Arbor & Detroit RR by James Hannum - I downloaded a free copy of this book a while ago. Re: Ex D&TSL locomotives
I have a photo of 116 in service at Battle Creek taken 6/8/83. It was still lettered DTSL on the hood but had 116 on the cab side in big white GTW numerals. I have a photo of 41 in Battle Creek outside the shop (not in the dead line) taken late October 1983 still in full DTSL paint and not renumbere...

Re: "The Michigan Timberliner" article
Author Cady knows his stuff in Northern Michigan. Surely a good piece.
Also, the Northern Arrow article mentioned in this Timberliner one was quite good with some rare photos.

Re: Cheboygan Fire
Former troop sleeper that was used as a yard office is still around. It was moved a couple blocks east and is behind the Cheboygan County Historical Museum on Court St. It was placed on a pair of regular freight car trucks on a panel of track. It's visible in aerial views of Cheboygan. Don't believe...

Re: G&W EPA Settlement, 88 locomotives to be destroyed
While not Michigan, I note the list includes a couple interesting units. Portland & Western SD-7 1501, the Albany, OR yard switcher holding on in battered SP paint. And, P&W/Willamette & Pacific GP-9 1801 painted in a rendition of SPs Black Widow Scheme. Sad to lose either.

Re: Michigan Transit Museum Tickets On Sale!
So, a little more to the story behind the photo of 4040 in Casablanca. The picture was actually taken by my dad who was stationed there from 1953 to 1955 while in the Air Force. He wasn't interested in trains, he just took pictures of various things around the base while he was there. Now 70 years l...

Re: Michigan Transit Museum Tickets On Sale!
I recently came across this picture of 4040 in service in Morocco ca. 1953. It must have been almost new. Note the European style couplers and buffers.

Joanne Shaw Taylor's "Going Home". I've seen her live a couple times and she's very good with the blues guitar.

Check out Laura Cox. The first song, Hard Blues Shot, is a little AC/DC-ish and, she rocks! Also check out a few of her other videos on YouTube. She's French and can really play. Plays bass too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJo1r7d5xQk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y53boWWi8g https://www.youtu...

CSX Business train in Michigan?
Maybe I'm just starting a rumor, but isn't that what these boards are for? Anybody else hear the CSX business train is supposed to be in Michigan tomorrow (Wed., 8/25)? I heard it was leaving Chicago at 7 AM heading east. Supposed to have the B&O inspired F40s. Any confirmation or other info would b...

One could also say that seat belts don't prevent all traffic fatalities, but it's still advisable to wear one. A key reason we wear masks is to minimize situations like the following. These aren't fake patients or fake symptoms:Screenshot_20201027-092859.png Excellent analogy. With citizenship and ...

Re: LEGIT CN HERITAGE UNITS!!!
It appears they're way off on the shade of green. They look closer to Illinois Terminal heritage colors than CN. Nothing like the shade of green/olive they had on the E-unit for the business train.

It could also be headed for use by a repair or construction contractor rather than a railroad. Stick rail could be used to build or repair a siding on private property maintained by a customer rather than a railroad.

Re: Kellogg's switcher being scrapped?
Kellogg's is doing fine in Battle Creek. They still make at least Raisin Bran, Raisin Bran Crunch, Special K, and Mini Wheats in BC. They have cut back their employment there very significantly over the last decade or so. This was mostly due to efforts to trim significant labor costs, modernize, and...
