Re: Just a question - CSX Grand Rapids to Indianapolis train

it was an attempt to keep the gerber Baby food as a customer after switch from glass to plastic containers. the shelf life was shortened, and the weight dropped making trucks better alternative for shipping to Atlanta where they had a warehouse. it didn't work so it goes by truck.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - Dec. 2022

Per ATCS Someone is tied down just outside Porter. Looks like a WB so either it's a 327 or Coal. After 20 hours on duty, we left 327 on the main at Porter. Ns was screwed up yesterday and couldn't use the switch at Porter to get on. They we waited all night to get a cab to get to the hotel. 326 nev...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - March 2022

So, only 59 cars and they're using a rear dpu on 326. It seems as though they use a dpu on trains that wouldn't need one, and then you get a 326 with 120 cars with two lead units and no dpu. Just an example, it's what I've noticed. I'm sure weight of the train as something to do with this. Sometime...

Re: MOW on CSX Grand Rapids area

Hudsonville and Waverly are the only sidings on the GR Sub that are good for 30, FWIW. Isn't New Buffalo also good for 30? Or just 20? It's also CWR. New bufflo has some joint that they need to welded, and gross has had haft of the rail replaced with old main line rail. Both projects are on going. ...

MOW is back at MP 6 in Grandville working on both switches. Hopefully, no more malfunctions at the Wilson Ave. crossing. The flashers and gates sometimes malfunctioned with no train around.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: August, 2020.

Heard the RN say “no, he’s not on the property yet. The NS is having a problem with a switch at Porter.” Must be referring to P370 as train tracker still shows him sitting at Porter. Then the RN called Q327 to get an exact location so he could get a cab to take the crew back to GR. Ns replaced the ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: June, 2020.

@Tom my suspicion is that they didn’t have helpers, and thus just took half of the N800 train up the hill, and might double back for the rear if they have time for it. Hi ya Saturnalia, D801-07 had the 2 usual CSX engines #3230 + #3200 when they had traveled westward from Holland with the empty coa...

I wonder if Q326 was scheduled early to allow a long MofW work window? Once coal is clear, the next passage on the GR sub west of Holland would be D700 late tonight. I know various crossing replacements are in the works (Bangor just done last week) and there is a lot of work equipment and supply st...
