Re: Average length of North American railcars

When I don't know the length of my train I multiply the number of car by 55 and it gets real close. So I would thing 55ft would be the average.

The new cement business up in Elmira may be coming up from the Chicago area to AnnPere for interchange. That could also have been what you saw on 326. Without knowing where its from though...that's a semi edumacated guess. And then again...BUZZI may be getting busy as would be High Grade too. High ...

Yep, the W001 Geometry train that has been in the state recently, went by Howell at 10:30 heading west to GRP. CSX 6025 with whatever the extra tag along car has been on this train recently is for, was behind the locomotive. Looks like an old smaller coal car. Meanwhile, all the talk on the board a...

sounds like a WB light engine move is cleared WB between EE Lakeo and Seymour. No occupancy on the ATCS screen, just cleared blocks. The engines where facing the right way. The problem was with the 8555. It's wouldn't control stand had a problem and wouldn't move the engines but the 256 would. Ther...

I heard 2-3 summers ago when the tie gang went down the Plymouth sub that Sunfield was scheduled to be rehabbed with new ties but that didn't happen with all the grain hoppers stored there. Then they left and the most recent crop of storage cars came over 12 months ago. Now that they are gone. No s...

Re: 477: "Whoops!" CSX Freight Train Stalls on Saugatuck Hil

I don't blame the crew for saying that. If I stalled a train with power that was rated for the hill, I would try to blame the equipment as well. You never know what sucker might believe it. After all you seemed to fall for it, hook line and sinker. However, since you are the "curator" of the CSX po...

Turning east at Plymouth, with UP 8555 + 8352 leading. But they called it out as X115-30 (on 2nd hearing, might be X150-30). Had 202 container flats / deep wells, all of them empty.[/quote] Considering the train was Northbound, had UP Power, my best guess would he a Q132 (SW reported an X) but it of...
