Re: Durand Railroad days trains- TON of them it seemed.
Yep, AARR, I saw some of those. Some had HUGE GATX across the side (not in the reporting mark location, right side close to the top. Large letters- and the reporting marks may have been different. Like the GATX locos with GMTX reporting marks. The cars looked brand new.

Durand Railroad days trains- TON of them it seemed.
We were in Durand Friday and Saturday. stayed at the Quality Inn. first followed GLC from Cadillac to Clare, whwere we paced the train to that point. Two of the new units and #391 led a long train of short new hoppers (not the Wexford Sand ones, but a lot of other ones like GATX, etc. And a couple l...

Question regarding accessing Durand during bridge replacemen
I have heard that the M-71 overpass is out of service. So, does that mean that the westbound exit off the freeway is closed as well? How about eastbound also? We may stop there this weekend during Durand Railroad days and wondered.

Okay, if the GDLK can interchange with the GRE, can the GRE interchange with MQT? Then the GDLK could interchange with MQT via GRE? Or probably also barred from doing that?

Re: "The Spirit of Traverse City" may be in trouble
Oh great, another rails to trails. I didn't see a STB filing yet. Maybe the GLC can take it over and start freight service to supplement passenger service. They can deliver duck food to the ducks along the line. Since it's right along the bay, unit 3" scale tank trains of water destined for Chicago.

Dude, I don't think you have any clue what you are talking about. Seriously, we just covered it. And Amerihart has been EXPANDING it's overall business, and no plans to close.

Re: Ann Arbor Railway - Rail America
AARR is 110% correct here. Nighttrain, -100 points for you. Shultz Snyder & Steele was a lumber distributer in Bates (Williamsburg), they were bought out by Northern Pacicic (NorPac). They went bankrupt a few years ago and the yard sat empty. Then Amerihart bought it and resumed receiving centerbeam...

Re: Ann Arbor Railway - Rail America
Interesting points! That would be quite the system, and you would think the ability to offer lower rates since much or the mileage could be on RA, depending on the destinations.

Re: Ann Arbor Railway - Rail America
NightTrain, that made no sense at all. What are you talking about? What does RA have to do with GLC, and the topic of this discussion, which was the Ann Arbor Railroad- nowhere near TC???

Re: GLC (TSBY) New power
They are already workingon plans for that- Lake Avenue. Starting near 17th Street and going to 8th, along the GLC line. So line would not need to be removed (just the wye). That moves all the traffic off Cass from 17th to 8th, which is the most congested portion now. MDOT ir requiring the City to re...

Rails to Trails to Grawn? Only if you want to buy meth, weed, or dodge the drunks of Grawn. Grawn is the Flint of northern Michigan. And no need for another road- US31 is not over capacity in the ten miles between Grawn and TC (GLC pretty much runs along side within a few feet to a few miles all the...

I would have to guess JAIL could care less about what railfans think, and I'm sure railfans are last on their list of people they feel they should educate on their training practices. If I were running a railroad, that's how I would feel, anyway (though I have to admidt, I could care less about watc...
