Re: So how did you find out about RRfan??

This one time, in band camp. Oh, wait- you mean this site. A friend who used to work on (as in maintain) the old GT Dinner Train told me about it.

No to the pellets also. Been going up 31 at least 1-2 time a week in the last 6 months, and no hoppers in the siding they used to use to transload.

Re: retirement train.

So for us totally lost folks, I take it Steven's dad worked for GLC? I know TSB owned it when the GT Dinner Train was around (when it was TSBY).

Re: GLC shipper in Kalkaska closed down very recently

KC, Halliburton, the oil field people are still operating. Did you mean Holcim cement terminal in Elmira? They are still operating, and now that they own Dundee Cement, they truck from Dundee to Elmira. I asked when I checked the place out. He said they also have a terminal in Grand Rapids near a ra...

GLC shipper in Kalkaska closed down very recently

GLC lost another customer due to closing. Dynamic Drilling Fluids was the customer with the spur just south of the downtown Kalkaska that received box cars (drilling sand, mud??). Siding is very rusty, building vacant with a "for rent" sign out front. There were 9 covered hoppers in Petoskey, one GA...

Re: WC Snowplow,GLC

Those are the same 30 some ex-Metra cars in the yard in Cadillac that were in Grawn. They are on two tracks in the North Yard. Also, Delta Truss closed up at least two years ago. The block place is one of two in Cadillac along the rails. The Concrete Service right by the main between the yards is st...

EASY!!!

I can't believe AARR didn't get this right away. It's the new GLC lease unit in Traverse City near the library headed onto the Grawn branch leading the unit cherry products unit train. Man, you guys are slow! Love that new heavy welded rail they installed last month for those heave cherries.

Re: Anyone know if GLC has been to TC since December?

I'm glad my tax dollars went to pay for two railroad tunnels in Traverse City last fall for a track that is shut down! Looks like MDOT needs to do some better communication between the road and rail departments? I'm guessing the signals still need regular inspection as long as they are ope...

So are all those box cars on that train revenue (is so, who?), or storage?

Anyone know if GLC has been to TC since December?

WCOR reefers in Cadillac

Strangely, there are two WCOR reefers sitting in Selma Yard coupled to sand cars, coke cars, etc (as in the inbound train with no locos). These are the EXACT cars that Cherry Growers used when they shipped by rail. Wonder if they came here in error, or what's up. TC John, those shiney things you ask...

Re: head's up ann arbor unit coal train of emptys

I'll post if I hear any horn from my office in downtown TC, but driving by some of the line this morning, I don't see how a train will get through up here (and yes I have some knowledge of what a train might safely get through). There are plowed piles several feet tall blocking some of the rails fro...

TC John, okay, I was just curious if that was still you using TC John after I stopped back on 2002 or so. I was asked if that was me posting under your log in yet by somkeone you know from back then. Guys, watch what you post and speculate here- if you want to know answers, check with the railroad, ...

Re: TC line shut down...

Hello all. I have been reading this board for the last couple months. I live in TC, and while don't consider myself a railfan or buff, I have always had an interest in watching TSBY and now GLC keep rail activity up here. I have not noticed signals being turned off, except the one in Grawn (could be...
